Their recipe names are taken from Roald Dahl's books. For example, the "Dirt with Motor Oil" only *looks* revolting. In fact, it might surprise you with its taste.

This collection of recipes makes for a great display book or a useful resource for food or craft at events. It can add a touch of magic and creativity to any gathering.

Moreover, it is an excellent recommendation for parents who want to cook fun stuff with their kids. It provides an opportunity for quality family time while also introducing children to the world of cooking in an exciting and engaging way. With these recipes, parents and kids can have a great time in the kitchen, creating delicious treats together.

I have to say that I love this one even more than the first.

It is truly remarkable as it is filled with more illustrations, which bring the story to life in a vivid and engaging way.

Additionally, there are numerous quotes from the source where the treats originate, adding an extra layer of authenticity and charm.

Reading this has also served as a poignant reminder of how badly I need to read "The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me".

It seems like a must-read that I have unfortunately overlooked until now.

I can't wait to get my hands on it and explore the wonderful world that it surely has to offer.

Overall, this second installment has exceeded my expectations and has left me eagerly anticipating more.

A good cookbook should have clear and easy-to-follow instructions, along with beautiful photographs that make you want to rush into the kitchen and start cooking. It should also offer tips and tricks for success, as well as suggestions for substitutions and variations.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced cook, a great cookbook can enhance your cooking skills and add excitement to your meals. It can become a trusted companion in the kitchen, helping you to create delicious and memorable dishes for yourself and your loved ones.

Adorable.

I really doubt that I'll be able to make any of the recipes. However, I truly love the concept behind them.

The idea seems so unique and interesting. It makes me curious to explore more about it.

Even though I may not have the skills or the time to actually try out the recipes, just thinking about the concept gives me a sense of excitement.

It could potentially open up a whole new world of culinary possibilities.

Maybe one day, when I have more confidence in my cooking abilities, I'll give it a shot and see what wonderful creations I can come up with.

Until then, I'll continue to appreciate the concept and dream about the delicious dishes that could be made.

Who knows, maybe it'll inspire me to come up with some ideas of my own.

A funny book is truly a gem. It not only entertains but also offers some excellent ideas of treats to make that beautifully complement the things described in the books.

Imagine reading a thrilling adventure story and then having the option to create a delicious treat that somehow ties in with the plot or the characters. It adds an extra layer of enjoyment and interactivity to the reading experience.

These treat ideas could range from simple yet scrumptious snacks like themed cookies or cupcakes to more elaborate creations that require a bit more effort but are well worth it.

Whether it's a magical fantasy book that inspires you to make a batch of unicorn-shaped cookies or a historical novel that leads you to prepare a traditional dish from that era, the possibilities are endless.

This kind of book not only engages your mind through the captivating story but also satisfies your taste buds and allows you to get creative in the kitchen.

Age Level:

I firmly believe that this book is suitable for individuals of any age level as long as they have a parent by their side. The reason being that it is a cook book. Additionally, if a child in the 3rd - 5th grade desires to read it simply for enjoyment and has an interest in cooking, then that would also be an appropriate age level.

Summary:

This book ingeniously takes lines from beloved childhood books such as James and the Giant Peach and The BFG and proceeds to describe the process of cooking the items mentioned. For instance, in James and the Giant Peach, it mentions "pickles spines of porcupines". In response, the author has formulated a recipe on how to create this, meticulously describing each ingredient and providing detailed instructions on how to prepare it.

Review:

I am of the opinion that this is an outstanding book to have in the library. It can even be incorporated into a lesson about cooking or about these captivating stories. In some classrooms, it might be possible to bring in these foods or have the students make them as a class activity. This would serve as a wonderful means to connect the book to the lesson, provided there is a relevant connection. It is truly a great book.

There are some truly interesting ideas and concoctions that focus either on eggs or sugar. These can lead to some delicious and unique treats. The nice full page splash illustrations add a wonderful visual element, making it even more engaging. It also references some of the recent Dahl books that I've read, which gives it an extra layer of charm. However, it's important to note that for a lot of these recipes, you will need a food processor. This appliance can be very useful in creating the right textures and consistencies. Without it, some of the dishes might not turn out as well. So, if you're planning on trying out these recipes, make sure you have a food processor on hand.

I was assigned a task to work on a jacket that was a British import.

First and foremost, I converted all of the measurements to US measurements. This was a crucial step as it ensured that the jacket would be properly sized and fit well for the US market.

After that, I turned my attention to the jacket design. I carefully examined every detail, from the cut and shape to the color and fabric. I provided valuable input on how to enhance the design, suggesting changes that would make the jacket more stylish, functional, and appealing to the target customers.

By combining the accurate measurements conversion and my design input, I was able to contribute significantly to the development of the jacket, making it more suitable for the US market and increasing its potential for success.

Fun with a capital F!

This is not just for the fans of Roald Dahl's quirky works, whether they are old or young.

Even my high school students found great enjoyment in it.

My daughter and I took the initiative to prepare a variety of dishes from this cookbook.

We have repeatedly utilized some of the wonderful depictions from the photographs and illustrations when we are entertaining guests, especially during Halloween.

This cookbook is truly a clever and innovative way to engage kids in the kitchen.

It not only gets them interested in cooking but also encourages them to read and explore.

Moreover, they get to enjoy delicious and fun food while doing so.

It's a win-win situation that combines the joy of cooking, reading, and eating in one delightful package.

Overall, this cookbook is a must-have for anyone looking to add a touch of magic and fun to their kitchen adventures.

Roald Dahl's Even More Revolting Recipes has a setup and content that is almost exactly the same as Roald Dahl's Revolting Recipes, with the main difference being the different food and meal ideas presented and the change in the main author to his wife Felicity Dahl. In terms of general entertainment value, the recipe names and the imaginative accompanying photographs have definitely appealed to me. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the recipes, looking at Quentin Blake's artwork, and smiling at the whimsical nature of the photographs. I have also searched for the featured recipes in the respective Roald Dahl novels.

However, when it comes to the practical use of the book as a bona fide cookbook for children, I have been mostly annoyed and disappointed. Many of the recipe suggestions, while sounding delicious, are not very healthy or nutritious. They often have a high fat content, are heavily meat-based, or are laden with white sugar ingredients. This is a problem considering the target audience is mainly children.

Moreover, the book includes far too many food and meal suggestions that require difficult and potentially dangerous instructions and equipment for novice cooks. As an adult novice cook, I know from experience that using juicers, food processors, or candy thermometers can be dangerous. I would be very leery of letting any young child attempt to make these recipes.

In conclusion, while Roald Dahl's Even More Revolting Recipes has some charm, it does not succeed well as a child-friendly and health-conscious cookbook. I only tried it because it was available on Open Library and I was curious about how it compared to Roald Dahl's Revolting Recipes. Both books have the same annoying cookbook and food preparation issues.
