A collection of poetic and dreamy short stories awaits you.

My personal favorites from this collection were several remarkable tales.

First, there was "The Mouse," a story that delved into the small yet significant world of a tiny creature, revealing hidden emotions and experiences.

"Under a glass bell" was another captivating piece, set in a mysterious and enclosed environment that held many secrets.

"The Mohican" took me on a journey to a different time and place, filled with adventure and the spirit of a noble warrior.

"The All-Seeing" explored the concept of omniscience and the consequences that come with such a power.

And finally, "Hejda" was a story that touched my heart with its unique characters and their complex relationships.

Each of these short stories had its own charm and allure, transporting me to different worlds and making me think and feel in new ways.

This collection truly was a treasure trove of literary gems.

I'm not entirely certain what it was that I was anticipating when I initially picked up this particular book. However, it is abundantly clear that it was not at all what I ultimately received! "Under a Glass Bell" is an extremely complex work that is absolutely brimming with a plethora of cultural references that I simply do not fully understand. In certain parts, it was truly a difficult and laborious read.

Nevertheless, the final two short stories within this collection were truly amazing. I found myself able to identify strongly with Hejda and was able to empathize deeply with the journey of the protagonist in "Birth". I am indeed glad that I took the time to read this book. However, I suspect that in order to truly engage with and understand what Nin is attempting to convey, I would need to read it several times over.

It is a book that challenges the reader and forces one to think deeply about the various themes and ideas that are presented. It is not an easy read, but it is one that is well worth the effort.

Lost somewhere between a dream and a nightmare. It's a strange and disorienting place to be. One moment, you're floating in the ethereal beauty of a dream, filled with hope and possibility. The next, you're plunged into the darkness and terror of a nightmare, your heart pounding and your mind racing.

It's as if you're trapped in a limbo, unable to fully escape either the allure of the dream or the grip of the nightmare. You struggle to find your way back to reality, but it seems elusive and far away.

Maybe this is a place where our deepest fears and desires collide, where the boundaries between the conscious and the subconscious are blurred. Or perhaps it's just a random occurrence, a glitch in the matrix of our minds. Either way, being lost between a dream and a nightmare is an experience that can leave us feeling shaken and confused, yet also strangely intrigued.

I have never had the opportunity to read any works by this author before.

However, upon delving into her short stories, I was immediately captivated by their beauty and the unique charm of surrealist poetry they possess.

Among them, the stories of the mouse, houseboat, birth, ragtime, and Hejda truly stood out and left a profound impression on me.

The way she weaves together vivid images and imaginative concepts in these stories is truly remarkable.

It's as if she has opened a door to a world of dreams and fantasies, allowing the reader to explore and be amazed.

Each story seems to have its own distinct atmosphere and message, yet they all share a common thread of artistic excellence.

I am now eager to explore more of her works and see what other wonderful surprises she has in store for her readers.

The stories presented here often lack a distinct plot. Instead, they mainly convey a certain vibe or atmosphere. However, this is not precisely what I am seeking in my short stories. I prefer tales that have a more developed narrative structure, with clear beginnings, middles, and ends.

Nevertheless, it must be acknowledged that the writing in these stories is quite beautiful. The authors have a way with words that creates a captivating and engaging reading experience. The use of vivid descriptions, evocative language, and unique literary devices adds an extra layer of charm to the stories.

While the lack of a traditional plot may be a drawback for some, for others, the beauty of the writing may be enough to overlook this deficiency. It all depends on personal preferences and what one is looking for in a short story.

I just did not establish a connection with Nin's writing style. It is extremely...ornamental.

I have the perception that in many of these stories, she either circumlocutes or emphasizes something to such an extent that it comes across as crude.

It is not arduous to read, yet challenging to understand, and at least ostensibly profoundly immersed in philosophical inquiries.

I remain intrigued by reading books written by her and her erotica.

I simply do not believe that her short stories suit my taste.

"You are the poet, you walk inside my dreams, I love the pain and the flame in you, but do not touch me." This quote seems to encapsulate the complex and somewhat elusive nature of her work.

Perhaps with further exploration, I will gain a better appreciation for her unique literary voice.

However, for now, I must admit that her short stories have not quite captured my heart.

Nevertheless, I am still eager to discover what other literary treasures she has in store.

Maybe her other works will offer a different perspective and a more fulfilling reading experience.

Only time will tell.

I have had the pleasure of reading other works penned by Anaïs Nin, and while I have generally found her writing to be quite engaging, this particular piece has left me with rather mixed emotions.

There is an abundance of poetic description and embellishment throughout the text, which, on one hand, showcases Nin's undeniable talent for creating vivid and evocative imagery. However, at times, this excessive use of poetic language can be somewhat distracting from the actual narrative. It becomes difficult to follow the story line as the reader is bombarded with elaborate and often complex descriptions that may seem a bit over the top.

That being said, there were certain stories within the collection that I did manage to connect with on a deeper level. These were the moments when Nin's writing truly shone through and I was able to appreciate the beauty and depth of her words.

Perhaps my inability to fully enjoy this book at this time can be attributed to a lack of concentration on my part. It is possible that I was simply not in the right frame of mind to fully engage with the text and all of its nuances. Nevertheless, I still believe that Anaïs Nin is a remarkable writer, and I look forward to exploring more of her works in the future.

Goddess!!

The term "goddess" holds a special allure and significance. A goddess is often seen as a being of supreme beauty, grace, and power. She embodies the ideals and virtues that are admired and revered.

In mythology and religion, goddesses have played crucial roles. They have been associated with various aspects of life, such as love, fertility, wisdom, and war. Their stories and legends have been passed down through generations, inspiring art, literature, and music.

Today, the concept of a goddess still captivates our imagination. We may use the term to describe a woman who is exceptionally talented, confident, and inspiring. She is someone who stands out from the crowd and commands respect.

Whether in the realm of fantasy or in real life, the idea of a goddess continues to fascinate us. She represents the potential for greatness within each of us and serves as a reminder to strive for our highest ideals.

Some of the stories didn't hold my attention. However, boy, some did!

Houseboat, The Mouse and Birth were truly exceptional stories. They had unique plots and engaging characters that kept me hooked from start to finish.

On the other hand, Hejda felt very inappropriate to me. This was mainly because of Nin's commentary about a culture that wasn't her own. It seemed a bit disrespectful and out of place.

Even the Child Born Out of the Fog had its issues. A white author narrating the stories of people of color was probably a sign of that time, but it was still wholly inappropriate. It made me question the authenticity and accuracy of the portrayal.

Overall, while some of the stories were great, others left a lot to be desired in terms of cultural sensitivity and representation.

Anaïs Nin's style is truly incredible.

I ventured into these short stories, which have a very good translation from French to Catalan.

I read it without haste, one or two stories a day, for fear that it would end.

Nin is addictive. She creates a dreamy atmosphere where surrealism and the unconscious are mixed.

Without a doubt, it's a 5/5.

Her writing has the power to transport the reader to another world, a world filled with mystery and imagination.

The short stories are like little gems, each one unique and captivating.

You can feel Nin's passion and creativity in every word.

It's a book that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves literature and wants to explore new and different styles.

Whether you're a fan of surrealism or just looking for a good read, Anaïs Nin's short stories are sure to satisfy.

Most of the pages I had to reread, and I constantly had to remind myself to breathe. Anais writes with such intense passion and beauty! It's truly remarkable. Her writing style is so engaging that it left me in a state of both exhaustion and excitement. It's as if her words are like precious works of art, each one carefully crafted and inviting you to draw your own conclusions. As I read her words, I could feel a range of emotions welling up inside me.

Sometimes I would be completely immersed in the story, feeling every joy and sorrow along with the characters. Other times, I would stop and reflect on the deeper meanings hidden within her sentences. Anais' writing has the power to transport you to another world, a world filled with vivid imagery and complex emotions.

It's a truly unique and captivating experience that I will cherish for a long time. I can't wait to explore more of her works and see what other treasures she has in store for her readers.
