Lots of good information about the first 4 books is presented. I really enjoyed reading about Diana's writing process as it provided valuable insights into how she crafted her stories. Additionally, the Gaelic information was fascinating and added an interesting cultural element. However, it should be noted that some of the information is repeated in different sections of the book. This can be a bit distracting for the reader. Overall, it serves as a better reference guide than a sit-and-read book. It allows readers to quickly look up specific details and facts. Despite the repetition, the wealth of information makes it a useful resource for fans of the series.

I truly have a great fondness for Gabaldon's books.

I hold her characters in high regard and treasure them deeply.

Her use of imagery is something that I greatly admire.

Her fictional works have a special charm that speaks directly to me.

However, there is one aspect that I simply can't tolerate, and that is her voice.

I reached a point in this book where I had to stop because it was shattering the magic that her stories usually hold for me.

I have no desire to learn about how unremarkable her inspiration might have been.

I don't want to pry into her secrets.

I prefer to remain in a state of blissful ignorance, allowing the magic of her books to continue enchanting me without any distractions.

Oh, what a fun listen!

The Outlandish Companion is a remarkable reference work that is based on the first four books of the captivating Outlander series.

Ms. Gabaldon provides fascinating insights into how she embarked on writing these novels, sharing her unique research approach.

She also offers detailed synopses of books one to four, which is extremely helpful for both new readers and those who want to refresh their memories.

In addition, she answers the many questions she receives from her devoted fans.

This audiobook is narrated by the talented Davina Porter, as well as the author herself, Diana Gabaldon.

Ms. Porter, who narrates most of the Outlander audiobooks (I believe the novellas have a different narrator), is truly wonderful.

Her narration brings the story to life in the most engaging way.

Ms. Gabaldon's narration, on the other hand, is candid and refreshing.

Listening to her comments felt like having a conversation with a dear friend, and it made me appreciate the Outlander series even more.

Highly recommended for all Outlander fans, whether you prefer the kindle version or the unabridged audiobook.

The kindle version is very good, but the unabridged audiobook is simply amazing! It allows you to fully immerse yourself in the world of Outlander and experience the story in a whole new way.

So, if you're a fan of the Outlander series, don't miss out on this wonderful audiobook!

Here is some interesting information about how the books were written. The author might have had a unique process, perhaps starting with a rough idea and gradually fleshing it out. There could be questions we might ask the author, such as what inspired the story, how the characters were developed, and what challenges were faced during the writing process.

Regarding the making of the show, it would involve a whole team of people. There would be decisions to make about casting, set design, and special effects. Fans of the series might be very interested in these details, as it gives them a behind-the-scenes look at how their favorite books were brought to life on the screen.

However, for those who are not extremely big fans of the series, some of this information might seem mostly unnecessary. They might just enjoy the story on the surface and not be as interested in the nitty-gritty details of how it was created. But for the die-hard fans, these details can add an extra layer of depth and appreciation for the series.

The introduction to this book vividly chronicles Gabaldon's remarkable journey to becoming a fiction writer. It's truly a quite astonishing leap, especially when one considers her background in zoology and comic books. Yes, you read that right!

It is one of the funniest and most engaging things I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Gabaldon has such a unique and fantastic voice in her writing. When I read her words, I feel as though we're sitting together, chatting and gabbing away over a bottle of wine.

You've simply got to love a girl who writes with such charm and wit: "What was the easiest kind of book for me to write? I didn't see the point in making things difficult for myself. After considerable thought, it seemed to me a historical novel was best...if I couldn't make things up, I could look them up." Her words just make me smile and endear her to me even more. I truly love her and her writing.

It's clear that her journey to becoming a fiction writer has been an interesting one, and I can't wait to see what else she has in store for us.

Whether it's her insights into the story or her thoughts on the characters, everything she says is so interesting and engaging.

Listening to her speak makes me feel as if I am a part of her world, experiencing all the adventures and emotions along with her.

I can't wait to hear more from her in the future and see what new and exciting things she has in store for us.

She is truly a remarkable author, and I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to hear from her.

This was a truly enjoyable read.

After devouring all her currently available books, this one provided an interesting perspective. It delved into some of her creative decisions, which was fascinating.

Moreover, it included several interesting tidbits that added to the overall charm. There were also a couple of really good recipes that I can't wait to try.

Gabaldon comes across as a very accessible writer. Her work has always had a certain appeal, and this book only intensifies that feeling.

It makes me look forward even more to her future works and the new stories she will undoubtedly bring to life.

Overall, it was a great addition to her body of work and a must-read for any fan of her writing.

If I could rate it a 0, I definitely would.

I really should not have bothered to read this. To be honest, it has actually made me like D.G. less than before.

This particular book, as far as I'm concerned, seems to be entirely centered around D. and is trying hard to justify something.

The original books were great without this addition. It is by no means a proper companion.

I had naively thought that it would contain useful references and interesting stuff regarding Claire and Jaime. However, it turned out to be all about D.

It's truly a disappointment and has left me with a rather negative impression.

I wish I could get back the time I spent reading this and use it for something more worthwhile.

Overall, I would not recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the original series and is looking for a meaningful addition or companion.

It simply fails to deliver on what it should have been.

This is a great review indeed.

If one waits for a few years between reading the books in the series, it can offer a whole new perspective.

The discussion about how the author came up with ideas and made decisions regarding the plot is truly interesting.

However, it's important to note that this is not the kind of book to be read from cover to cover in one sitting.

A significant portion of the book is really just a reference about nature or historical figures.

Nonetheless, it still serves as a decent resource book, providing valuable information and insights.

It can be a great addition to one's library for those who are interested in the subject matter or simply looking for a unique and informative read.

Overall, despite its limitations, it has its own charm and value.

Interesting enough in parts, but mostly for reference. It contains a section at the end about the production of the TV series. The story goes that the option for the story was sold several times throughout the years. Finally, in 2014, filming started. This part of the account was quite fascinating as it detailed the long and winding road to bringing the beloved story to the small screen.

The part that I enjoyed the most, however, was a collection of letters the author received from readers. Some of the letters had questions, while others had complaints. A lot of them were outrageous, to say the least. But what made it truly engaging was the author's own responses to these letters. Her replies were both charming and insightful, offering a unique perspective into the minds of the readers and her own thoughts on their feedback.

Overall, it was quaint and picturesque enough to satisfy the incipient obsession I am developing with all things Outlander-ish. It added another layer of depth and understanding to the already captivating world of Outlander.
