After watching the first two seasons of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander without rereading her books, I made a crucial decision. I decided to reread Voyager before the start of season three.

Even though it has only been five years since my initial read, I was shocked to realize that I had forgotten so many details of the plot. Some might argue that I have spoiled the new season for myself, but I firmly believe that I have only increased my anticipation.

Claire and Jamie Fraser's adventures continue to astonish me. They manage to embark on the most creative (thanks to Gabaldon's brilliant imagination) and harrowing escapades. Moreover, the characters themselves are extremely lovable, despite the fact that there are times when I want to strangle them for their stupid behavior or assumptions.

When one considers the tendency of human beings to spend their entire lives within 20 miles of their birthplace, the Fraser's story becomes even more unique. This is especially true when taking into account the concept of time travel. Jamie's sister Jenny references this idea early on in Voyager, and it was clearly even more prevalent in the eighteenth century. Claire and Jamie travel from Scotland to France and then to the Caribbean, breaking boundaries along the way.

Gabaldon's writing style is highly detailed, which I absolutely adore. This time around, I listened to the audiobook, but due to my limited listening time, it felt a bit slow for me. So, towards the end, I also picked up the ebook. Davina Porter, who narrates all the Outlander audiobooks, is a master of voices and the subtle nuances of plot and emotion.

Now, all I need is the visual representation from the new season on television!

How does one review such a magnificent literary bodice-ripper as 'Voyager'?

'Voyager' is truly a remarkable installment in the series. It is best enjoyed when one has read the first two books. This is a continuing saga that is rich with detailed history, the captivating culture of the 18th century, fascinating characters, explicit sex, torture, romance, and thrilling cliffhangers.

The extremely sexy male warrior character, Jamie Fraser, introduced in the first book, has survived the doomed Scottish rebellion. However, his love, Claire Randall, has returned to her own time through the mysterious time portal. Now, in 1968, Claire wants to explain to her daughter, Brianna, who her real father is. She returns to Inverness with Brianna and discovers proof that Jamie survived the war.

Should Claire go back in time to Jamie? They are both now older, in their 40's. Did Jamie marry again? There is only one way to find out.

I am overjoyed to learn about the Lord John series. Man-on-man sex? Mmmmmmm. Gabaldon surely knows how to keep this reader entertained! Don't judge me.
