An uneven collection, to be sure.

However, the short story form will forever remain my preference when it comes to Faulkner.

Thankfully, most of his renowned short works are encompassed within these pages, and they are all truly magnificent.

This is precisely the kind of book that, through a stroke of good fortune, might just find its way onto your bookshelf.

And then, one fine day, you happen to stumble across it.

It's as if it has been patiently waiting there for you, ready to transport you into the rich and complex worlds that Faulkner so masterfully creates.

The stories within this collection offer a diverse range of themes, characters, and settings, each one a unique exploration of the human condition.

Whether you're a die-hard Faulkner fan or new to his work, this book is sure to captivate and engage you.

So, cherish this discovery and allow yourself to be immersed in the literary genius of William Faulkner.

The famous stories are all here and they're mostly great.

However, the real gems to me are the heartbreaking "Two Soldiers" and the not-at-all-gothic "Race at Morning".

"Two Soldiers" touches the heart with its poignant tale, making you feel the emotions deeply.

And "Race at Morning" has a charm of its own, not following the typical gothic style but still captivating.

These stories are best enjoyed with a glass of Bourbon in hand and in a humid environment.

The combination of the rich drink and the moist air seems to enhance the reading experience, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the world of the stories.

It's as if the Bourbon and humidity create a unique atmosphere that complements the essence of these literary works.

So, sit back, relax, and let these wonderful stories transport you to another place and time.

Love me some Faulkner!

William Faulkner is truly a literary giant. His works are filled with rich and complex characters, vivid descriptions of the South, and profound explorations of the human condition.

Faulkner's writing style is unique and captivating. He uses long, flowing sentences and a rich vocabulary to bring his stories to life. His works often deal with themes such as race, class, and family, and he does so in a way that is both thought-provoking and deeply moving.

One of my favorite Faulkner novels is "The Sound and the Fury." This novel tells the story of the Compson family through the eyes of four different narrators. Each narrator has a unique perspective on the events that unfold, and together they create a complex and nuanced portrait of a family in decline.

Faulkner's works are not always easy to read, but they are always worth the effort. His writing is a testament to the power of literature to explore the human experience and to make us think about the world around us. I will always love and appreciate the works of William Faulkner.
