This is a captivating read, full of unexpected adventures. I followed Jamie and Claire, as well as Brianna and Roger, in North Carolina. Adventures in the wilderness, lurking dangers in the shadows, and moments filled with emotion. I observed how Claire and Jamie remain a passionate couple, continuing to move us.

On the other hand, Brianna and Roger... They got married, Jemmy was baptized... But the relationship between Roger and Bree is still too new and not yet entirely convincing. Although the two love each other, it seems to me that they still keep secrets from each other. I'm not yet convinced of them as a couple.

We embark on various adventures and get to know the area. Also, the author manages to offer us an interesting perspective on the history of the place. I'm curious what will happen next with these couples and what their lives will be like in these wild territories.

The second part gives us a perspective on the dangers of North Carolina, the disease that can kill a person if there isn't a good doctor nearby.

We also witness the battle between the militia and the Regulators, see how Roger was wrongly hanged and the trauma he went through, and are witnesses when Jamie is bitten by a snake and Claire's struggles to treat him...

A truly special read! Author Diana Gabaldon tells us about the Indian tribes, their customs, about slaves, piracy...

Also, we see how the relationship between Roger and Brianna becomes more and more believable, we see Jemmy growing up, winning the hearts of everyone. And at the end, we have an unexpected surprise: Ian - Jamie's nephew on his sister's side - returns.

Why oh why is this book so bloated?

It seems that no detail is too insignificant to be included in this hefty tome. The plot, such as it is, which is only a tiny bit, is pushed to the back burner. The majority of the pages appear to be dominated by the tedious descriptions of breastfeeding, dirty diapers, more breastfeeding, leaky breasts, and yet more diapers and breastfeeding. And somewhere within the unrelenting barrage of the tedious minutiae of 18th-century daily homesteading life, there are suggestions of events that could have made for a fun adventure story. However, by the time you reach them, you are far too exhausted and bored to care.

A good editor armed with a relentless red pen for this book would truly have been a godsend.

(Continuing to slog through this series solely to keep up with a TV show. That's completely unheard of for me.)

Y no le pongo dos estrellas porque quiero mucho a los personajes, nada más. I really have a deep affection for the characters, which is the only reason I don't give it two stars.

Cuatro meses para terminar el que para mi es el libro más aburrido de la serie, tremendamente descriptivo y cansado. It took me four months to finish this book, which I think is the most boring one in the series. It is extremely descriptive and makes me feel tired.

No logré conectar con la historia :( I just couldn't connect with the story. Sadly, I failed to establish an emotional connection with the plot. Maybe it's because the writing style didn't suit me, or perhaps the story didn't have enough engaging elements.
