Jodi Picoult's truly remarkable writing had me completely engrossed from start to finish while reading this novel.

Her descriptions were simply outstanding and left a lasting impression on me.

Certainly, the presence of a touch of the paranormal, a peek into earlier eras, and a captivating exploration of XP, all working in harmony, made the story truly exceptional - at least in my opinion.

Although I could sometimes anticipate the direction the novel was headed, the rich and expressive writing more than compensated for this.

I suppose my only criticism would be that the names of the characters frequently had the same initial. This led me to have to re-read certain sections to ensure that I had the correct person in mind.

Overall, despite this minor flaw, I thoroughly enjoyed the novel and would highly recommend it to others.

ASTONISHING!!!!

This book was truly amazing. It had the power to make me laugh out loud one moment and then bring tears to my eyes the next. There were also times when I was left sitting dumbfounded, completely in awe of its intensity. The level of grief that the author was able to reveal in so many of the characters, in different ways, was truly remarkable.

I also loved the twists and turns that this story took. It had multiple levels, spanning the present, the past, and the distant past, covering four different generations. Somehow, Picoult managed to keep it all together and spin a tale that truly touched the heart and reminded me of how strong love can be and how much it can conquer.

Along with that, I learned about racism towards Native Americans in Vermont, a state not typically known for racism but with an astonishing history of trying to wipe out Native Americans through sterilization. It was also eye-opening to learn that Hitler had learned from scientists in the U.S. about how genocide could be done legally here. This is a story that I definitely did not learn about in my U.S. history class, but it is one that should most definitely be told and not forgotten.

It is a powerful reminder of the importance of learning from our past and working towards a more just and equitable future.

Strange and inexplicable events are unfolding in the small town of Comtosook, Vermont. It is August, yet the temperature is fluctuating erratically. Rose petals are cascading down like a snowfall, and large portions of the land are mysteriously freezing.

We are introduced to Ross, a young man who is deeply grief-stricken by the death of his fiancé. He has made numerous attempts at suicide, longing to be reunited with her. In a desperate attempt to find some sort of connection with her, he takes a job with a company that specializes in investigating paranormal activities.

The company is hired to look into a controversial building site. The local Abenaki Indians assert that it is an ancient Indian burial ground. Ironically, the owner of the land is an elderly, somewhat senile man who was once involved in a eugenics project in the 1930s that nearly wiped out the Abenaki Indians.

Ross moves in with his sister, Shelby, and her son, Ethan, who suffers from a rare allergy to the sun. The concept of living a life upside down, sleeping during the day and being awake all night, intrigued me. However, they are isolated because of this condition. I was relieved when the investigation brings a law enforcement officer into Shelby's life.

I had never read a book by Jodi Picoult before, but since she is so widely popular, I thought I should give it a try. She handles complex subjects with great skill and is a masterful storyteller. Her ability to weave together a captivating narrative with thought-provoking themes makes her books a must-read for many. I am eager to see how this story will unfold and what other surprises Picoult has in store for us.

One of my favorite authors really let me down in this particular work.

I just couldn't help but feel that the story was progressing at an excruciatingly slow pace and seemed to be going in every direction imaginable.

There were far too many characters, and unfortunately, none of them managed to capture my affection or make me root for them.

However, that's okay, Jodi. I still have an unwavering love for you as an author, and I will continue to eagerly devour every single one of your books.

Despite this disappointment, I know that you have the talent and creativity to produce many more amazing works in the future.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with next and hoping that it will reignite my passion for your writing.
