This book was indeed good.

I truly liked the fact that it incorporated comics within its pages. The addition of comics added a unique and engaging element to the reading experience.

However, on the downside, I felt that it was a little dragged out at times. There were certain sections where the story seemed to meander and not progress as quickly as I would have liked.

Consequently, there were moments when I started to lose interest. It was as if the author could have trimmed some of the unnecessary details and tightened up the narrative to maintain a more consistent level of excitement.

Despite this drawback, the overall quality of the book was still quite good, and I would recommend it to others who enjoy a combination of text and visuals in their reading material.

Jodi Picoult has once again delivered a touching, engaging, and emotional novel that has become one of my favorites. Her writing is smooth, direct, and intensely captivating. She tells the story from the multiple perspectives of all the characters involved, which adds depth and complexity to the narrative. The themes she explores are always strong and relevant, and in this case, the topic of rape of an adolescent is both timely and controversial.

As we have come to expect from her works, the facts are not always as they seem. There are plot twists and surprises around every corner, and the line between right and wrong, good and evil, is often blurred. Jodi seems to enjoy disorienting the reader, planting seeds of doubt and making us reflect on the fact that reality is not always what we think it is.
Using her simple and direct writing style, the author sketches the story of a family. She delves into the different ways in which the parents fulfill their roles, the relationship between them as a couple, the theme of betrayal, how a person can change when they become a parent, what it means to be a father and a mother, and how the most important thing in a parental relationship is to protect the child at all costs, against everything and everyone.
The idea of the epilogue is brilliant. It almost seems as if the circle of the story is closing, yet leaving the reader with a small opening through which they can imagine their own ending. Well done, Jodi. Another great story, another perfect centerpiece, and a confirmation, if ever there was a need for it, of her talent for me.

I wasn't overly fond of this book, and I'm truly surprised at all of the raving reviews. It makes me wonder if I missed something significant along the way.

I found that the author overworked Dante's Inferno, and the little bits of the graphic novel merely restated what the reader already knew. I understand that the author was attempting to show how the lines could blur on the typically black-and-white issue of rape. However, I felt that she was more biased towards Trixie.

In the end, we discover that Trixie did nothing to stop Jason, and from his perspective, he thought that she had consented throughout the whole ordeal. But it seems that no one really cares that an innocent boy died. Moreover, the author writes as if the mother was justified in killing Jason. This actually made me extremely angry.

Yes, Trixie didn't want to have sex with Jason, but she failed to tell him so, and therefore, it is partly her own fault. I'm curious if anyone else felt the same way as I did.

It's important to note that rape is a complex and sensitive issue, and perhaps the author was trying to explore the gray areas. But in my opinion, she didn't do a very good job of presenting a balanced view.

The Tenth Circle ⭕️

Tragically, Trixie was raped. But the question of how we define rape is a complex one. When the story seems inconsistent and it's just Trixie's word against the world, it becomes extremely difficult to know who to believe.

We all want to believe that Trixie is the victim and that a court will see the truth. However, it's hard when no one else can confirm her story. Her father is understandably enraged. He feels a deep sense of guilt for not being able to protect her in the first place. Now, he wants to take matters into his own hands and kill the boy who hurt her. He is determined to do everything he can to safeguard her, even if it means going to extreme lengths.

This situation highlights the challenges and uncertainties that often surround cases of sexual assault. It shows how difficult it can be for the victim to get the justice they deserve, especially when there is a lack of evidence or support.
