I truly adored this book, and all of my children, whose ages range from 13 to 3, share the same sentiment. Listening to the audio version, which was read by the author himself, made it an even greater favorite among us. Sam Beaver, an inquisitive eleven-year-old boy, discovers the nest of a trumpeter swan. One of the hatchlings encounters a problem, and he teams up with Sam to overcome it. This is a touching tale of friendship, courage, and perseverance that elicited both tears and laughter from us. Moreover, it inspired us to have conversations about how to assist one of our children with his developmental delays. Books that can spark such meaningful conversations are undoubtedly the best. They have the power to not only entertain but also educate and bring families closer together. This particular book has become a cherished part of our family's literary collection. We will surely be revisiting it time and time again.
