I was out for a run when I decided to listen to this particular audio. From the very beginning, it had me completely engaged. Thought I would take a break and read something a bit lighter.

However, it turned out to be not a good choice at all. The book I picked up was way too sappy and full of excessive sweetness for my taste.

It was so overly sentimental that it failed to engage me in any meaningful way.

There are simply too many good books on my to-read list, and I really don't want to waste precious time on an unenjoyable book like this one.

I should have been more careful in my selection and chosen a book that would have provided more substance and entertainment.

Oh well, live and learn. Next time, I'll make sure to pick a book that suits my preferences better.

Let's be fair.

I went into this book with the anticipation that I would probably not like it. And unfortunately, my prediction came true. The reason I decided to go against my initial instinct was that this was the only audiobook by Fannie Flagg available in my library. As I had previously stated that I would listen to all her available audiobooks, and I am a person of my word, I gave it a try.

The story was full of southern charm, and I really loved the small town feel that prevailed throughout the novel. However, I didn't like any of the characters except for Macky, and he was only a minor character and barely in it. It was a cute story, but I never developed an emotional attachment to any of the characters. I also felt that it got a bit preachy at times, but it wasn't overly so.

Overall, it surely wasn't my favorite book, but it was okay. It definitely made my time pass more quickly. I would rate it a 3 out of 5.
