This is for the 12th edition. Much to my annoyance, Lonely Planet now tries to obfuscate what year its guides are published. So I don't know the year, but the information in it was reasonably accurate. Oddly enough, at 472 pages it still seemed a little thin for a city like London, which offers so much to do and see. I mostly used it as a source of suggestions for places to visit. I was surprised on this visit, my second - the first was over 15 years ago - at some of the changes I saw. For one, the downtown, touristy areas were absolutely packed with people; it seems that London is more than ever a popular place to visit. Not surprisingly, costs have gone up. Overall the quality of the writing and the suggestions for places to visit were good, if not spectacular.

even tho' I lived in London (ages ago) this book has some great ideas and knowledge

An up to date travel guide on some of the hottest spots to visit in London - it's certainly made it easier for us to explore some places and create an itinerary.

Pretty good guide but in the midst of London traffic turmoil I realized that the tube map was not included. Surprise! Otherwise very good tips useful for thorough planning of a great trip.

I admittedly didn't read all of this, but the overview information at the start of the book was excellent and extremely informative.

This is a good introductory guide to the biggest things to see and do in London. The maps were a little lacking, but suggested itineraries were good.

This book is really informative and has many ideas about what to do and stay around London. I would recommend reading a lonely plant guide on the place you want to go before going there.

Great Resource

Lonely Planet does a great job of compiling everything one needs to know about a city then presenting it in an appealing way. One feels well prepared, but also able to easily refer to any of the guides for reference.

This was my first time picking up a Lonely Planet guide and it did not disappoint. Engaging, well-researched, with "insider" info and the right mix of cultural and historical details peppered in, this is more like getting the scoop from a friend than reading a travel guide. Definitely would recommend if you plan on staying more than a few days. I'll be taking this one with me when I go!
