I think Xenocide to date is my favorite book, and one that resonated with me after hearing the term "career father" in a conversation with a side character. I don't remember why I started reading Speaker for the Dead, but most likely because I was looking for some books to read and either remembered Enders Game or got it recommended by my dad (massive reader himself).

A 3-pack of the first three novels in the Ender's Saga that is one of the best series in SF. The first novel, Ender's Game has become a classic and still holds up very well. A boy is recruited by Earth's military to train him for a future war against a species that once invaded Earth. Most of the story is set in the Military Academy as Ender must prove his worth. The next two novels Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide are very different in tone than Ender's Game and could almost be a single two-part novel. Millenia have elapsed since the end of the first novel and Humanity has colonized a planet called Lusitania where an indigenous species must coexist with humans. A ver skillful reading makes this audiobook set come alive. Recommended.

Really enjoyed this story. A lot of really well disguised heavy philosophy.

"Third in the Ender series. Discovers new species of piggies while finding home for buggers."
