Note: this review is only for "A Sound Of Thunder"
Review in the least amount of words: Poor butterfly.

I got scared when I reached the end of this story, don't know why. Ray Bradbury's a genius, he thought of everything. But I would've thought, given the chain-reaction example given by Travis, time-travel would've been considered too dangerous. I still don't understand how the death of one butterfly could've caused people to forget how to spell and the change in the presidental election, but I guesse that just adds to how much you've got to piece together yourself. The end was a shocker. I loved it.

This review is somewhat mixed.

I've been a fan of Ray Bradbury since I first read The Martian Chronicles over 30 years ago. The Sound of Thunder is still one of my favorite tales by Mr. Bradbury. Short and pulpy - sure, but it still feels like a good Doctor Who episode. For those unfamiliar with Doctor Who, that was meant as a compliment.

Something Wicked This Way Comes didn't work all that well for me. It's an okay story, but seemed to fall a bit short for my tastes. Good narrative, for Something Wicked, but I guess pre-teen/early teen horror isn't my genre any more.

Great writing style, very descriptive and easy to follow. Unfortunately, I just didn't find this story that interesting or entertaining hence the 2 star rating.

This book was probably geared more toward a younger crowd.

Loved this audio version but Bradbury's language is so poetic, I found myself wanting a book so I could re-read many of the descriptions. A scary read, recommended for fall/Halloween. The audio also comes with a short story "Sound of Thunder" on the last disc. Jurassic Park...Bradbury was way ahead of his time.

Listened to on CD, but probably would have liked it better on paper. Just not into the story or characters at all. I should probably try again. Now that I think about it though, I usually am not that interested in books that set around a Carnival or Circus.

"A Sound of Thunder" was much more the sort of story I could enjoy than "Something Wicked...". Love time travel fiction and Bradbury's ability to make words create a scene or a feeling is wonderful and poetic. I'd give the short story alone a 4 but just didn't care for the main title of this collection at all.

This story looks at Good Versus Evil. What evil feeds on and how evil can win if you let it.

I liked the book better than the movie. The desires that are deep within people can have a big effect on what happens to them if they let Mr. Dark get to them. I like the 2 boys struggle with Dr. Dark and the witch.

This is one of my all-time favorites. It's a beautifully written story about two best friends and what happens to them when a carnival comes to their small town. It was an intense, moving, frightening read. Ray Bradbury is at the top of his game here.

Four stars for the story, but two stars for the narration. Average 3.

I read a physical copy of this book last year and had a hard time with the poetic language. I found it difficult to understand and frustrating to read. "Just write what you mean!" I said out loud a number of times. At the time, I thought about giving the book one star but knew that Ray Bradbury and his highly acclaimed novel must be worthy of more than that, so I gave it three.

Several months later, I decided to listen to an audio version to see if I would think differently about the book. Boy, was I surprised! Stefan Rudnicki's reading of the book is fabulous and allowed me to see (or hear) what a great story this is. Five stars all the way!

Interesting listen. I had seen the movie and was curious what the book was like. I enjoyed the narration but some of the writing was a little too poetic for me at times. Not a book to binge listen to but a good book none the less:
