Unless you’re a Bradbury completist, I wouldn’t recommend this collection. There’s some good stories but a lot of stinkers too, and most of his best stories are not included. But damn if he wasn’t prolific!

A few good stories are collated from the Martian chronicles and Dandelion Wine, but you are far better reading those stories in their respective collections than this bloated collection that contains far too many uneventful vignettes. There is another collection of Ray Bradbury stories far better than this one that contains a 100 stories as well. Get that one and the aforementioned Martian chronicles and the far more digestible October Country.

Bradbury is good, this collection is not.

It took me a while to finish this wonderful short story collection. Not because it was bad or boring but because there are 100 of them in this book. Sometimes I read 5 stories in one go and sometimes I didn't read for a week. But I didn't read anything in between. I wanted nothing to spoil the Bradbury experience, if you know what I mean. In 2020 I read another wonderful short story collection of Bradbury, The stories of Ray Bradbury. The one I have is a beautiful Everyman's Library edition and also contains 100 stories. None of those come back in Bradbury Stories. So you have here 100 new stories from the 40ies till the 90ties. Bradbury pulls you in with every single story. He knows how to write about Mars and how it is to be a 12 or 13 year old boy. So many new favorites in this collection. Experience the world of Ray Bradbury if you can! Of course 5 stars.

A collection of short stories by Ray Bradbury, well known for science fiction, fantasy and horror. There is also another collection, "The Stories Of Ray Bradbury" and none of the stories are duplicated.

Bradbury wrote some of SF’s most famous short stories. Some of the most famous are: “There will come soft rains” which pictures a post-disaster world; “The Veldt” which portrays some problems with raising children in the future; “A Sound of Thunder” which details the impact of making a small change in the past; “All summer in a day” which details a world where the sun only appears once every 7 years; “-And the Moon be Still as Bright” which pictures an encounter on Mars, etc.

Splendid. A must-read! You can read as many of the stories you like but it's absolutely worth it reading it from start to finish. Yeah, it actually blew my mind. I see so many of the concepts irl - I'd be living my life and suddenly my brain goes: "You know what? There is a Bradbury story that's similar to this situation!" Amazing.

Took me long enough, but it's better to read attentively, for this is an anthology that spans from horror to science fiction with no fillers. One of the great ones indeed!

What can I say about a collection of 100 short stories. Many of them were awesome, like the Toynbee Convector, and others were misses for me. However, Ray Bradbury in general is like wrapping up in a warm blanket in front of a cozy fire during a stormy day or night. Comfort food for the mind, and yet some of it is very stark and pointed. Shocking, even. I love it. I was reminded of some old favorites, and noticed others were missing. I also found some new ones. I will refer to and reread this collection many times over.

This collection of Bradbury shorts contains 100 stories spread over 888 pages. Though Bradbury is best known for Sci Fi, the stories range widely beyond that.

I tried to read the book straight through, but gave up after about 350 pages. There were too many weak stories that I did not enjoy, and too little of the Sci Fi that I was most looking forward to. A challenge with stories whose average length is 8.8 pages is that many are short and so it isn't easy to 'give up' on the weak stories before they are done.

There is no doubt that Bradbury is an interesting writer with some fascinating ideas, and that his output is quite impressive. But this collection would be a lot better had it focused on quality over quantity.

Not worth reading unless you have recommendations from others of specific good stories to read.

I quit while almost half-way though this book.
Life is too short.
These stories are not his hit records, but rather the B-sides.
I can't take it anymore. Every story in this book makes you
wish you were reading something else.
Maybe there are better stories later in the book.
I am not caring anymore.
I'm actually a fan of Bradbury too, but these stories are just soooooo weak.

I never realized what a immaculately talented artist of the written word that Ray Bradury was. This book was such a delight, no matter what the genre, he danced with grace and dignity. I would read a story a night. Well that was the plan, but then some days. Each work tantalized, going into the depth and wonder of each work, each character, a firmament, and yes, sometimes a universe of wonder. Please, if you need some good wine for your literary dinner, enjoy these short bottled, savory enhancement by this great author.
