The inside cover of this book promises an action-packed adventure, and I have to say that this book delivers on that premise. Nearly every scene concludes with some kind of chase, escape, or something horrible happening to the victim of Lord Umbra. At the same time, it becomes a little bit tedious at some point- you know Peter is going to fly away, the only question is how he's going to manage it. I also still find the idea of these starcatchers to be a little trite- they're very secretive and dedicated to a good cause, but they don't seem very capable at their job. Additionally, their entire purpose seems to be to return to the sky the things that are falling down from it- do they ever wonder why these things are falling down in the first place?
I give this book a four star rating though because it does read very quickly and there's just enough humor in this book to remind you that it's supposed to be funny, but also just enough serious material to make sure you remember that we're dealing with some seriously evil villains here.
