This is an author that came Highly recommended to me, so now I'm waiting to read the book. But here's an excerpt from his "Reflections":

"Once you start to awaken, no one can ever claim you again for the old patterns. Now you realise how precious your time here is. You are no longer willing to squander your essence on undertakings that do not nourish your true self; your patience grows thin with tired talk and dead language. You see through the rosters of expectation which promise you safety and the confirmation of your outer identity. Now you are impatient for growth, willing to put yourself in the way of change. You want your work to become an expression of your gift. You want your relationship to voyage beyond the pallid frontiers to where the danger of transformation dwells. You want your God to be wild and to call you to where your destiny awaits."

With this said, I'm off to get this book:-)

Okay to pick up every now and then but there’s little to no continuity or forward movement. Each chapter can stand alone, hence why it was difficult to keep momentum.

Beauty in all its forms: light, sound, nature, love, God, art, music: a stunning capture.

I give this book a 4.5. After reading the first few pages, I knew it was a book to savor; I took nine months to read it. I never got disinterested or desirous of casting it aside as one not worthy of my time. (And I've done that with many a book.) On the contrary, it was worthy of my time and more. I often wanted to allow the time it took to let the words I had read resonate fully before moving on to more of them. I didn't understand every single thought I read, and I have some theological bones to pick with some of what I read, but all in all, I learned many beautiful things about beauty. It is a book to go back to, again and again.

This was not for me. I only got in about the first chapters worth, but it felt like very flowery writing for something that I couldn't follow.

Incredible book, one I've reread multiple times. It's both expansive and soothing. Highly recommend.

One of the most beautiful books I've ever read. It is about the deep beauty of love, nature, people, God, of everything. It is really balm for the soul. O'Donohue is a poet, and this book is so exquisitely written that you want to underline every word. Wonderful!

One of the books on the subject I've read to date - easily top ten on the topic. Sometimes would get a little in the weeds, so maybe not for everyone, but enjoyable none-the-less. Have to be in the right mindset to be dwelling on and savoring beauty to really get a lot out of this work, I'd say.

Lyrical, twining the analytical rims of philosophy to the visceral roots, Beauty is beautiful. Taken in sips and sprints, it provides a necessary haven for the heart in a world tyranized by the mind.

Reading and listening to this spiritual poet is like a massage for my soul. Breathtakingly beautiful and insightful.
