Well I picked up this book thinking it would focus more on historical facts and some data the homeowner had discovered. Yeah.... not so much data and more hippty dippty New Age malarky. Her writing is very good, but not one of the sparse stories in this book connect together cohesively or even seem very plausible. It's a good read if your into energy's and chakra's but not so much if you like interesting facts and history.

Más que novela es un documental sobre una casa embrujada, lo esperaba con sustos de muerte pero solo son los típicos golpes, ruido uno que otro aparecido pero todos amigables...

I found out about this author and book from another book - The Nearly Departed: Minnesota Ghost Stories and Legends. I am very intrigued by this sort of subject matter. While looking through Nearly Departed I realized the stories were labeled with their MN city on the top pages. I wondered if my hometown, Hastings, was in there. I looked in the index and sure enough - Hastings. I was so excited as I thought the story was for sure going to be about the LeDuc Mansion. The mansion is close to my childhood home and I have helped clean the place up with our church.
To my surprise the story in Nearly Departed was not about the mansion, but a Victorian residence. I was dying to know where this house was as there were clues in the book. Apparently the resident has written some books about her house and the spirits she lives with. There is also an internet site. It was very interesting to me as it was so close to home. The haunted house is just steps away from my hometown church!
I didn't think the writing was spectacular, but because the subject manner was about a haunted house in my hometown - that kept me reading.
You have to hand it to this woman too - staying in that house. I wonder if she's still there.

Terrible. This author is so gullible that everytime she reads a book she begins experiencing it, past lives, hauntings, esp. There are a lot of good books about haunted houses, stay away from this one! Not scary, not convincing, not good!

"A cool story from a mother's perspective. Very spiritual woman who sees many apparitions. Tons of activity."

This book was very tiresome, not slot happens and the writing was plain. Didn't finish it as there was no grip or reason to carry on.

This was a pretty good book I enjoyed it. Even though some of the things she talked about were a little bit out there but I definitely believe in the paranormal

This is a fast, short read, pretty well packed with ghostly appearances, poltergeist activity, strange visitations and the like. I wanted to know more of the history of the house and the former inhabitants, but there wasn't as much of that. It was more of a factual tale of the things that happened to Annie and her family and friends as they lived and moved through the house. I would have liked more of a timeline as well, but even without definitive dates, the material was pretty clearly chronologically displayed.

I know I'm being shallow and sensationalist, but I was hoping for more of a spooky read than what I got. Still in all, pretty good.

I want to believe that the author really had these experiences. It's always fun to flirt with the unknown and Annie has definitely accomplished this. I enjoyed contemplating the floor plans of the home, the restoration aspect, and the idea of protective spirits. The night of the furnace at the end of the book was terrifying (partly because I have a penchance for reading in bed, alone, late at night). On the other hand, she did dive into the hippy dippy realm pretty heavily in the second half of the book when she got into astral-projections.

A good book to read to get your spooky fix.
