Absolutely delightful!!! This is my eighth Marian Keyes book that I've read and it's a tie for best so far with The Woman Who Stole My Life and This Charming Man. The entire book was a delight to read. If you're looking for a feel-good comedy while you're in a rut or something to inspire you to do something different, go for this book. I've always wanted to write a book of my own...this book has left me itching to get started!! I'd give this book as a gift to any of my girlfriends as well.

Well, I had a hard time getting into this because I found the first section so irritating. I did not like whiney Gemma nor her mother... There seemed to be no mitigating circumstances. Things picked up when I got to the section on Jojo, and gradually even Gemma became more bearable. I did find myself mulling their various situations over and wondering about the fate of some of the other characters, so I guess it was better than I realized. My first book my this author - I do have at least one more on my TBR pile so I guess I'll give her another try, otherwise I am not bowled over.

I was looking forward to reading this book as I’ve loved the other Marian Keyes books that I’ve read, I found that it took me a while to really get into the story but once I did I was hooked so it’s definitely worth reading through if you feel the same way.

I loved all three of the main female characters, they all offered me something different. Gemma was really funny and gave me some real laugh out loud moments, especially with her family dramas and hilarious emails. Jojo was fantastic, she was strong and confident which made for great reading and although I didn’t agree with her affair with Mark, I still liked her. Lily surprised me, after reading Gemma’s story I expected not to like this man-stealer but actually I took to her really quickly and discovered that what happened wasn’t all black and white. I suppose the title to this story says it all really!

I always love books that have inside information on agents/publishers/authors and this book had lots of it, I find it so interesting to see how things work behind the scenes.

Some other funny moments to look out for when reading this book are Lesley Lattimore’s wedding – the wedding planning and even the day itself had me chuckling, and another part that was very funny was when Lily and Anton had the builders in, I loved their nicknames!

The story really heated up towards the end as unexpected things happened and I just had to know how it would all turn out so I couldn’t stop reading. A few more surprising events and an important phone call later I reached the end which was perfect for me, it ended just how I hoped it would.

Cute and fun but the girls started to get on my nerves. I liked how it was told from 3 different points. Near the end the girls started making dumb decisions and it was really annoying. It was predictable.

I actually liked this book a lot more than I expected. In some ways, it reminded me of Goodnight Beautiful - probably because of the multiple viewpoints, it being set in England, and there being a kid involved.

I almost didn't want the book to end and in many ways, it wasn't how I wanted things to wrap up - but I think the story will stay with me.

What was strange to me when I read this the first time was that Lily and Gemma were written in the first person and JoJo was written in the 3rd. I don't really know why that was done.

I really got a kick out of the insider view of book publishing and agents. I feel as though I know more about the process now.

I love a good Irish story. This one made me laugh. Gemma's storyline was hilarious. Sad it's over. Such great characters.

Gemma writes a book about her dad leaving her mam, but he predictably comes back, saving her from handling the guilt if dealing e her mom.. Lily lives in panic and remorse for having stolen Gemma's reckless boyfriend, and also becomes a published author, albeit only through trauma. Jojo, also guilt ridden, is the link between them for being the literary agent and, surprise, also guilt ridden for her affair w a married man.
Good story and interesting characters, but not life changing; more of a great winter read under covers w tea.

A bit overlong, but I really enjoyed it. I think this has dethroned Rachel's Holiday as my favorite Marian Keyes. Now I'm excited to catch up on the all the more recent ones I haven't got to.

When I picked this book off of the bookshelf at my local library, I really wanted to love it. And I tried, oh how I tried. But starting the book off with whiny Gemma, her awful dad and her useless, manipulative mom was not the way to go. The first part of the book focused almost exclusively on Gemma and I found myself either rolling my eyes, or just glazing over the words with complete distaste and boredom.

You might ask why I didn't just put the book down. I often ask that question myself. I have to say that even though I struggled through the novel, Jojo and Lily's parts were quite likeable, all up till the third part of the book where everything went to shit.

In short, if you like whiny, annoying female characters who are completely dependent on men, then definitely read this book. Otherwise give it a miss or you might give yourself an aneurysm.
