I really expected something else when deciding to read this book. Being a big fan of Jon Stewart (who isn't?), I was disappointed. Maybe it's because book is really dated now...but this wasn't a true reflection of how I typically view his humor.

#readingchallenge2017 (my book with pictures)

Maybe I just ‘didn't get it’.

Constructed as small pointless stories, varying from a political nature to just poking fun at celebrities, the overall novel was a general nothingness at a level that didn't really work...

Loving the Daily Show’s political satire, I was looking forward to a random assortment of fictional tales. I chuckled here and there when starting a story, as I was initially amused by the new topic. However, I never really made it through any individual piece without losing interest and skimming.

Didn't like it. Heard a Jon Stewart talk. Thought I'd like this book. Very disappointing. Didn't finish

I have relatives who are rabid fans of The Daily Show. I've watched clips now and then but never a full show. So when I came across Naked Pictures of Famous People by Jon Stewart from before he was hosting The Daily Show I thought I should give it a read.

This short book of satire has eighteen essays crammed into 163 pages. There are all number of different famous people from the Kennedys, the Hansons, Martha Stewart, Princess Diana and Mother Theresa, Hitler and Leonardo da Vinci among others. Each essay is written in a different style and voice but they are all odd and out there.

I can't say that any of them made me laugh. I smiled a few times at "The New Judaism", "Pen Pals" and "Da Vinci: the Lost Notebook." Of those, the Da Vinci piece is my favorite for the included drawings.

Some of the essays are sticking with me for the ick factor. Top on the list is "Martha Stewart's Vagina" which is crude for the sake of being crude. The Hitler one is okay but lets face it, Hitler's been satired to death by now and Mel Brooks wins with The Producers.

I think I'll stick with nodding politely when the latest Daily Show is mentioned. He's sometimes funny to me but not frequently enough for me to consider myself a fan.

An abysmal collection of short stories. It read like unrefined, raw, underdeveloped frat boy comedy. I mistakenly got excited seeing this book on sale at a used book store because of Jon Stewart’s name.

Okay, now I’m reading two celebrity books. That’s not it’s supposed to work. It’s supposed to work so that I’m always reading one of the kind of books I like. I just haven’t figured out how to do that yet. And there’s too damn many kinds of books l like.

Breakfast at Kennedy’s seems to be some sort of humorous fiction about John F. Kennedy and family.

Stuff about then always calling John derogatory names about being Jewish. Mrs. Kennedy popping out babies like Pez. None of it seems very funny to me.

I can’t wait for it to end.

Well, I made it through the first chapter. I have no idea what I just read. I don’t think it would have helped if I did.

Maybe I’m too young for it - a sentence I don’t think I’ll be saying again.

Maybe I’m too non-Jewish for it. But nah, I’m Jewish enough.

I have to give it 1 star. You don’t have to, but I can’t give it anything else.

This will get donated soon. Did not finish.

I am a big fan of "The Daily Show" so when I saw this book by Jon Stewart at the library, I had to read it. Some of it was pretty funny - other parts not so (the chat room part).

At any rate, it's a quick read. And I needed a break from the depressing stories in "Say You're One of Them."

Though most of what I read was very humorous, I feel like I'm not well enough educated to truly appreciate the whole book. So, if you are more attentive to politics and/or current events than I am, you would most likely enjoy it a lot.

Surprisingly juvenile and annoyingly one-note. Each story is a one-joke pony... the Kennedys were elitist and cruel sans torturers, Princess Diana was elitist and self-involved, Hanson was not just a band but a band of Jesus freaks, etc. Safe, unfunny "humor" by a "comedy expert" "grownup."

A collection of 16 essays centered around broad cultural issues. Since this book was published more than 20 years ago, a lot of the material is really dated, and at least for a young audience, not particularly understandable. There were some really funny and imaginative essays in this, some even overcoming their own sense of placement in time. Neat read overall with some flaws largely caused by age of the book and age of the reader.
