I was so excited to read this book ! I wanted something to put me in the Halloween mood... I have to say I was disappointed with it. First I hated all the characters I didn't care if they died or not. I was reading the book but I wasn't feeling anything! And the end was just annoying for me. I liked the concept but that was pretty much all that I liked about it.

It was okay. To be fair, I have seen the movie (which I also didn't like), so I knew what was going to happen. Wish I had returned the book to my library after realizing I had seen this as a movie. It was predictable, drawn out, and the characters weren't engaging enough. Oh people died, who cares. Oh people lived, who cares. That's how little was put into character development.

This is quite possibly the worst book I have ever read. Unlikable, flat, awful characters - literally every single one. Dull plot with no rules or sense. Not even great writing style to save this one. Finished it by sheer force of will after falling asleep while trying AT LEAST three different times.

Save yourself - put this one on the shelf and back away.

This book had so much promise, coming out of the gate interesting and unique. It started going downhill about midway through due to the writing and lack of deep characterization that kept me from being attached to any of the characters. The ending was incredibly stupid and while it did wrap everything up, there are other ways I think the author could have gone to make this a great horror novel instead of trying to be philosophical with the story.
