Just to clarify to everyone. I don't actually read these anymore for professional stuff. These are mostly from childhood nostalgia.

It was a pretty good book, but it is true that so little is known of Shakespeare's life that it was mostly just speculation in there. Besides that, every time they mentioned a new play was published, they'd sum up the whole plot of the play, which was annoying because they would spoil the whole ending and everything. I just skipped over those parts.

Who Was William Shakespeare? by Celeste Mannis is a book in the Who Was/Is Series. All books are nonfiction biography books about someone famous. My eight-year-old found it dull and slow, and while I agree it is a bit dry, it’s jam-packed full of history, culture, politics, and social education. I wish it was told with a bit more pep and humor so he’d enjoy it more, but I’m hopeful as we continue to read the series and enter more modern times that he’ll get more engaged.

This is a wonderful introduction to the Bard. Packed with attention grabbing facts about the Elizabethan era, it takes readers on a journey through Shakespeare’s time, while introducing Shakespeare’s many works. I highly recommend this book.

I bought this book in September 2020 on Amazon Brazil and kept it in the bottom of a plastic container. I only got around to reading it now. Since my English has improved a lot in the last few years of studying, it was a relatively easy and very quick read.

My kids really enjoy this series of books. Normally, they can't put it down til they finished. This book is full of great info about Shakespeare growing up: school, home, city life, writing plays. My kids really enjoyed reading it.

A very good book if you are studying William Shakespeare as it is full of facts about him.
It has a timeline at the back of his lifetime do it would be a good revision tool for tests and exams.

Discussion Question
Q:What play that he made have you ever watched in a theater or on TV? If not, what do you want to watch?

A: Actually, I have never watched them. If I watch one of them, I will watch Romeo & Julliet.

I have known his name and his masterpieces since I was a junior high school student, but I did not know how he had spent his life, as the author said first of this book. Thanks to this book, I will get interested in plays.

I'm not big into books that are mostly supposition, and there was plenty of supposition in this one. However, considering how far back Shakespeare's life goes, making assumptions is inevitable. There is much about Shakespeare's life that is simply unknown. But what is known is very interesting.
