Another slightly bizarre, but highly entertaining mystery in the Hamish Macbeth series by M.C. Beaton. The characters are fun and quirky and I had to laugh at how many times poor Hamish was stood up for a date in this book. It's a quick read and I am eager to read the next book.

My mother-in-law and I started reading this series in May 2009, and initially we skipped around the series. Before long, we were hooked and started reading the books in order. Now we are more than half-way through and hope that more are being written!

interesting quote (from the beginning of the Epilogue):
"It doesn't much signify whom one marries, for one is sure to find next morning that it was someone else." (p. 190)

It's a dream come true, a book she wrote years ago is going to be made into a television show, however things change when the scriptwriter gets his hands on her creation.
However Hamish soon realises that there are plenty of people who wanted to kill this victim, and it's fun trying to work out which suspect is the killer.

Lockdubh Constable Hamish Macbeth meets with a troupe of filmmakers in the nearby Town of Drim. Patricia Matryn-Boyd is soon a victim and as the culprit strikes again, Hamish must quickly find the right killer. This is a fun entertaining read with quirky characters. the plot is so off-the wall and the ending is a complete surprise. If you like a little suspense with your mystery, then you will love this book.
