This was the least enjoyable of the four novels I've read from Mr Elton which is not to say it was bad, I did enjoy a lot of it but there were quite a few chapters that didn't really move the story on quick enough and it suffered from that.
The narrative goes along at quite a pace and the plot is subtle. You wonder all along why this American General is seeking out an old lover and the twist at the end is unexpected. Ben Elton also describes the feelings associated with having a stalker very well, and can create tension in the reader. Overall a good read, well written and engaging and you want toknow what happens next as he is able to create sympathy for Polly, the main character.
Nothing can come close to bring happiness like a book that has a deserved ending.
"Blast from the past" is one of the most interesting and gripping dark comedy I ever read. This book should be prescribed for people who wants to study about narration.
This book is grossly underrated. Such a phenomenal writing, why no one is talking about this book?
