If practice makes perfect, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has refined the formula for his mysteries time and again. The stories reveal no revelations and one must wonder at the mental capacity of Watson, who never ceases to find amazement in Holmes' analytical methods. However, unexpected twists of blazing red hair as found in "The Red-Headed League" make an evening with Holmes pleasantly well-spent.

22 delightful stories ... each one makes a great bed-time read ... but all of you Sherlock fans already know that

I have seen the new movie with Robert Downey, Jr., but realized that I'd never actually read any of the original Sherlock Holmes mysteries. I borrowed this volume of stories, written by Watson (via Sir Arthur Conan Doyle), and had to take a break about halfway through -- while I was glad to have the background to further understand the movie and how these mysteries came to inspire and be reflected in modern mystery stories, I found reading 22 of them in a row was a bit tedious.

après les avoir vu en adaptation télé puis cinéma j'ai voulu lire l'original; très agréable surprise et excellent format; les mystères sont courts et bien ficelés, parfait pour une lecture complète avant de dormir...
