This book has been a very useful book. It has helped me and my husband, we have organized and dejunked the basement...my husband has been a hoarder for many years, I am a complete organization freak. The chapters are short and simple to follow.

Had I not already adopted this philosophy, I would have given it more stars. However, I already am doing what this book suggests, though slipping back into a pattern of wanting more. So this book is what I needed to read to refocus my intentions, even though I didn't find anything new to apply. It is comprehensive, in that it covers attitudes of consumerism as well as techniques for limiting our material resources. A good book to read annually to stay the course, and a good book for beginners who want to live life with quality rather than quantity.

I listed this first because it is one of the books that most influenced the simple philosophy behind this site. I began simplifying my life when I first read these books a decade ago, and though I've had some ups and downs, I credit my love for simplifying to these books. They're an easy read and there are some great tips in there.

This is a good book if you are just thinking about living a simpler lifestyle as it is mostly just a list of things to try followed by a few sentences of descriptions for each suggestions. I would have given it a better rating except that I have already heard of/tried most of her suggestions and some of them seemed like pat answers. For example: Express Gratitude, then only a paragraph of explanation.

I read this book b/c I saw it referenced in another book and I thought it might be interesting. It was - I definitely learned some helpful tips and got some needed reminders about keeping my life simple. However, I felt that there were some parts that were a little far-fetched and wouldn't be practical for most people. I definitely felt that b/c the author didn't have any children, it was a lot easier for she and her husband to create their own little simple world, and live any way they wanted, which just wouldn't be practical for most people who have children. Alhough I do have to give the author credit for including the chapter about scaling down with kids.

If someone has read Simplify Your Life than this book is a waste. Too many repetitions and common things.

I’ve never read anything else by this author but it seems like she was making capsule wardrobes and Kondo-ing her home decades before this current trend of minimalism! I can’t say I took away much new information from this book, but I am impressed with this little book, and I was definitely inspired to continue on this journey.

It was nice to see that I am already doing many of the ideas presented in the book. I think that the author goes overboard a bit, but I think it's always good to be reminded to simplify! In the future, I would like to have all of my clothes be the same style so I don't spend so much time figuring out what to wear.
