This book covers a broad range of topics, from personal finance to meditation to gardening, and the whole is about equal to the sum of the parts. The individual sections gave me some ideas of ways to simplify my life, but it's not kind of book that changes how you think about the world. If there are specific topics you interested, I would recommend reading more in-depth books on those individual topics.
Best $1.00 I spent at a garage sale in a long time, other than that club chair in the living room, lol. Great tips for modifying and simplifying your life.
Yesterday I sat down on the floor of Title Wave Books and read most of this. It made me want to get rid of a lot of kitchen appliances and wedding presents and live in a very small house.
Helpful guide for practicing voluntary simplicity. I found this useful for living in NYC and having so many expenses just to survive. It provides a non-materialistic path towards finding contentment.
Can I just say that I think a 450 page book about how to simplify your life is just plain WRONG? TMI! The author should have taken her own advice and simplified. Skip it, unless you have loads of time on your hands. (I skimmed it by the way, I don't have loads of time!)
Fantastic book. I took it out of the lib and started reading it and I thought it was really enlightening. I was half-way through the book and going crazy b/c I couldn't underline anything or write in the margins. So I ordered a nice used copy on Amazon (got it yesterday). This book is great. Packed with wisdom for RIGHT NOW, all easy to apply. Even the chapters I thought wouldn't apply to me did. I'll read the whole thing again, this time with a highlighter at hand.
