Not one of his better works. Very convoluted with no clues until very late. Story of rabbits being smuggled with infectious ticks that would give a horse a fever and permanently ruin his racing prowess.
This book has a lot of interesting twists and turns. If you enjoy Francis' other books, you will probably enjoy this one too. Ex-jockey Freddie Croft owns a fleet of horse vans that take horses to the track of move them from stable to stable. He is well-respected in the racing world and enjoys his work, but when two of his drivers pick up a hitchhiker who proceeds to die, Freddie finds himself at the center of a series of strange events. Freddie has to catch all the culprits and vindicates his van line.
