I read this book years ago and it’s stuck in my head for some reason. It’s as fast paced now as it was when I read it in the 80’s. The injuries to the horses weren’t so great - those bits were upsetting.
I’m currently gradually reading all the Dick Francis books again, in order. I enjoyed them first time round, I’m enjoying them now, although obviously, the earlier ones are a bit outdated and do show their age, but I love them!

A cracking thriller

To be clear: ANY Dick Francis is a book worth reading, but this was not one of his best. It was entertaining, and no chore to read, but the character seemed so disconnected to his situation, it was hard for me to stay fully engaged.
