One of the more entertaining books I had to read in college, I admit. I know - reinforcing gender stereotypes, but there is some circumventing, too. Also kind of genius to have two different people illustrate this.

This was a funny picture book that I got from the library. I love picture books even though this wasn't my favorite.

This book is narrated by a boy and girl who can not agree on the fairytale they are going to tell their class! Their story includes a princess and her ponies, a motorcycle dude, and an ugly giant. The two take turns spinning this into a very interesting fairytale full of excitement!

Monarch Award Book

A very different way of a fairy tale!

Bought this for my 3 year old because he requested a motorcycle book (and wasn't quite ready to sit through The Mouse and the Motorcycle), and I knew it was a past Black-Eyed Susan nominee. We all really enjoyed it and have read it multiple times--he's almost had it read to him enough that he can "read" it himself.

My kids love this book! The voice switches between girl and boy, and the illustrators appropriately switch as well. Brilliant concept and really well executed. A great twist on the well-trodden path of children's books.

This book is my GO TO book for older kids. It is funny, it has great art (3 different kinds, no less) and it adapted REALLY easily to a Readers Theater script for my 3rd - 6th grade group. AWESOME!!

I decided to read this book to a 6th grade class as a two reader book, because that is how the book is written. My library assistant and I took turns reading. After the initial reading, we will revisit this book for background knowledge of fairy tales. I will recommend this book to the drama teacher for "readers' theatre" and we will continue to explore it for plot characters and theme. The kids responded well, and we will do it again, and explore in depth.

This book is narrated by two competing voices: a tweenie girl and boy. They jostle back and forth with very different ideas about what should happen in the course of the fairy tale they are telling. My first graders can pretty much recite it by heart. They can barely contain their collective excitement through to the end. Dudes...it is awesome.

I found this book two years ago while volunteering at the Center for Children's Books. Funniest kids' book ever! It's a fairy tale told a little boy and girl with very different ideas of how the story should proceed. Hysterical!
