Laura Ingalls Wilder and The American Frontier includes five essays, or speeches, presented at the Laura Ingalls Wilder and The American Frontier conference in 1998. Some of the essays were well written, insightful, and interesting. Others? Not so much. Moreover, some portions get redundant. You don't really need four separate essays to ALL tell you about the collaborative process between Laura Ingalls Wilder and Rose Wilder Lane. As a warning, if you're a BIG fan of the Little House books, it might be a little disenchanting to read these essays about them.

Although the book was a repetition of many things that I had already learned about Laura Ingalls Wilder, I enjoyed the realization that so many other people have reread her books many, many times for basically the same reasons that I have.
