I always loved these, my grandma read them to me, so they are always special, although i have the cool yellow box set. they are awesome! way better than the tv show :), let's not even get me started on that.
I'm just in love with this book series! I love this type of writing, which brings me back to the old times in USA when their lives were much simpler but more fun! By 3/21/2019, we finished reading book 1, and we are eager to read the next book in this collection. I love every story that Laura wrote in such detailed manner. I wish I could ever once in my life live in "the Big Woods" and enjoy God-created nature.
My mom read us all of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books when I was about eight. It was a nightly ritual to eat slices of apples and listen to my mom read!
Such marvelous children's stories. Some of the content is definitely from a different understanding of the human person (like the notion that children shouldn't cry) but these books afford glimpses into life before industrialization, globalization, electricity, canned music and the internet.
Laura Ingall Wilder's novels stir the imagination of all young girls. I often wonder if they should be considered memoirs? Her writing shares joy in growing up and the love of a family, while educating the reader without necessarily intention. I related much to Laura, the spirited second child and narrator of the book. I was that spirited #2, with a wonderful older sister who was much more behaved and did well in all her endeavors. Indeed, it is my sister who got me hooked on the Little House books. I have reread them often since the first time I pulled one off the shelf in the bedroom I shared with my older sister!
These books are great classics tell of the adventures, lessons, and life stories of a little girl named Laura and her family as they grow up. Farmer Boy is a glimpse into the childhood of Almanzo Wilder. ATOS: 5.2 Lexile: AD670L Trait: Ideas
some fun little ideas for recipes, crafts, and songs mentioned in Laura Ingalls' Little House on the Prairie. Would make a fun book to work through with a little girl enamored with the series, or for a home-school family.
I loved this entire series as a child and I still do today. This edition is beautiful. I really hope they release the rest of the series in the same format and soon! I would love the have the whole series in these pretty leather bound editions.
This series of books is what first got me untreated in reading. I enjoyed the books and the times shared with my father (we read them aloud together). Probably very sentimental when it comes to these, but I enjoy them and plan on sharing them with my children.
