Very well written, simplistic for new believers. I loved it and passed it on to a new believer decades ago who thought it was great too.

This book changed my life. Christianity is not a religion; it is a relationship with Jesus Christ Himself. It's not taking on a belief system. It's allowing the God of the universe to live His life through me/you. Christians are actually a different species. The life of God empowers them.

One of the better books on our identity in Christ, focusing more on regeneration than the usual list of 'labels' we now wear as believers. The book isn't terribly academic but it is on the dry side. That said, some of the author's metaphors are very helpful and he addresses a subject so important and so neglected. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to take hold of the identity we've been given, badly enough to press through to the end. I read the paperback version.

In the opening lines of chapter one of David C. Needham's "Birthright: Christian Do You Know Who You Are," he wrote, "This book is about you. It is also about a miracle so gigantic, so spectacular it belongs in the same class as the miracle of the creation of the universe." Whether you are a pre-believer or a believer in Jesus Christ this book really is about you and for you. Apart from the Bible itself, it is the one book I would choose to accompany me on the proverbial desert island. It is the heart and soul of what one needs when one receives the Savior. David Needham conducts us on a journey from the Fall of Eden to the Glory of God and our Resurrection in Heaven. Along the way, he points to our overwhelming desire for meaning and shows us that sin (in all its reiterations) is our vain attempt to fill the meaning vacuum. It doesn't work. Meaning is now transitory since the things we use to establish it are all fleeting... sooner or later they will leave us short. They must because they are not eternal, not unchanging, not infinite. When mankind gave up its dependence upon the Lord it broke from its source, the Creator. He is the only source that is not fleeting. He alone is eternal, unchanging, and infinite. Independent from the One thing, the One Person who will never fail leaves us always in search of another high. However, with the Savior comes new birth...and a new start. God re-creates us. The supernatural work of God redeems us, justifies us, adopts us, reconciles us, and regenerates us! Learning about this allows us to lean into him...so finally, moment by moment, we are carried by "the everlasting arms" far from the holes in our souls to the fullness of his grace.

The concepts in this book are Biblical, but very new to me. I have struggled with the simplicity of the Christian message taught by many people and churches that encourage one to just admit they are a sinner and believe in Christ and you will be saved. In fact, I often ranted about what happens next? Now that I have my “golden ticket”, what am I supposed to do with the rest of my life? Many times people focus on not sinning and doing good deeds. If you are a Christian, but struggle with the hypocrisy of your own life, then this book might help you. The message is one of real hope and true joy. It addresses who you have become and the relationship with God available to you because of Jesus through the Holy Spirit. How we think of ourselves has a huge impact on how we actually live our lives. This book is a big help for understanding what God has to say about who we are. The Author explains these concepts in just the way I needed to hear them. Read it, you won't be disappointed!

I've read the book before on advice of a counselor but picked up again because I needed to clarify my identity in Christ. Complex book full of religious images and language that might be confusing to the uninitiated. Needham pushed me into Ephesians 3:17-21 for which I'm grateful.

A book that I will refer to for study and discussion. The added notes and appendix are a great addition. A great suppliment for any discussion on transformation.

Needing an identity check as a Christian? This book challenged my mindset. I'm so grateful for who I am because of Christ and the miracle He has done in my life!

Even though it's long and can be tedious, it is filled with some great analogies of the changes that have taken place in those who have become a Christian. It does well in it's challenges to some current Christian teaching.

One of the foundational books of my life. Other than the Bible, no other book has impacted me more. Needham gets to the heart of the gospel by helping us understand who we are in Christ. I can't recommend a book to you more. This is a life altering book. I have read this over and over these past 30 yrs.

Not my favorite of the books I've been reading on identity and Exchanged life. He seems to go off on tangents that I can't connect with his points - of course, that could simply be my own lack of understanding. That said, there were several remarkable analogies and insights on Scripture that produced some "aha!" moments for me, and gave me tools with which to explain Scripture to others.
