Definitely my least favorite so far in the series. While the Redwall books are generally formulaic, they usually have a lot of fun variations in plots, characters, and themes that keeps you coming back for more. This novel, however, was shockingly redundant of previous plots. The "vermin are ALWAYS evil" bit is just...dull after so many titles, and honestly pretty shallow of a device.
Enjoyable for the most part, this one did feel to keep dragging on and on at times. The ending was beautiful however, and brought tears to my eyes. I still recommend reading it for any fan of the series or genre, with the disclaimer that it's definitely not Brian Jacques' better works.
