Definitely my favourite in the series. It's a shame that Brian Jacques passed away and that there will be no more to follow. The audiobook version is great though with Brian Jacques narrating along with a diverse voice cast.

I think this one really ticks all the boxes for me. Seafaring adventure, danger, quirky characters, and good old Ben and Ned.

A rousing adventure! I didn’t realize at first how the timeline went from one book to the next in the trilogy…

Brian Jacques' third and final book in the "Castaways of the Flying Dutchman" series, "Voyage of Slaves" is a bit of a letdown for me. His second book, "The Angel's Command," was my favorite. Jacques, admittedly, has a bit of a formula in his books. They can be fairly predictable, particularly where the good always triumphs over evil. What makes his books shine, however, are his characters. I become attached to the characters, and so I can overlook the cliches and obvious plot points.
Despite the previous "Castaways" books, I could not connect with the characters this time. Ben and Ned bounced around so many locations, meeting all new people who were in the picture for barely a few chapters before moving on.
I think I'm good with the first two books.

This book has the saddest ending ever! It's just outrageous, the nerve of Brian Jacques! Anyway the rest of the book is good he's on the sea again. kills a shark meets some awsome guys. It's all good. except for the ending! Oh and don't listen to a song called "When you were young".

Brian Jacques' books (about either animals or humans) are the best! He could do no wrong.

I think this series is for a younger age group, but I do admit that I enjoy it-the writing style is attention grabbing.:)
