It’s a strange book, in a lot of ways even stranger than the first book of the series. Like many weird things, it was also fascinating. Alternative history is an interesting genre. I think Card did a good job here all around but I can’t really tell if I liked it or was just captivated by its uniqueness.

One thing I do I know, I’ll be reading the next book.

Less enthralling than book 1 of the series. However, the premise that humanity has lost it's connection with nature, plus Card's insightful writing style as well as the story itself were more than compelling enough to keep my interest.

The ending was to my liking in that it provided a sense of satisfaction and culmination which was all the more appreciated given the books tendency to run on a little unnecessarily in the latter sections. And, now that I see a third book exists, I can read it out of a sense of choice rather than obligation.

I enjoyed this read as a little bit of "fluff". As the 2nd book in this series I expected a completely different plot. I was worried for a minute this book was going to be disrespectful towards Native-Americans; really it was specific characters that might have reflected perspectives during that time period. I am left wonder "How did Mr. Card know so much about Native-American culture?" I am looking forward to the 3rd book, I have a feeling these books will continue to surprise me.

Not sure what I think about this one. The first books was mostly character development. This book got right into the story. I quite liked learning about the red men’s ways. The story of tippie canoe is probably true in its own way. When I paid close attention to this book, I liked it. But I was completely glued in.
