I have to admit I've only read the first two. Although these books are apparently meant for grade school level, I find it hard to believe kids that young would ever be able to understand L'Engle's fourth dimension POV. I would like to read the last two in the series, but I think I may have given these books away...

Regardless, these books would make AMAZING movies if done in a non-cheesy manner.

A Wrinkle in Time and A Swiftly Titling Planet were my favorite of the quartet. I loved the creativity in characters and storyline. Madeline L'Engle creates very easy to relate to characters in the story, and builds the family dynamic in such a way that we are immediately drawn into the family like we were always there.

I enjoyed re-reading Wrinkle in Time. I didn't enjoy the later books in the series as much. Not sure I got to the fourth.

I have read most of these books several times. A Wrinkle In Time was the first chapter book I remember reading, and I have loved it every since. I could really relate with Meg, and aquward adolescent turned heroin. the story continues with Meg and her brother Charles Wallace through two more books. The forth focuses mostly on the twins and is an interesting twist on the story of Noah.

I read this set during one of my childhood nocturnal phases over summer break. Its been years so I don't remember the stories that clearly, but I do remember that the story left an impact. It was an unusual and powerful adventure and extremely surreal.

I debate reading it again as an adult to see if it had the same effect on me

With over 10 million copies in print, Madeleine L'Engle's Newbery Medal-winning classic, A Wrinkle in Time, along with its bestselling companions, A Wind in the Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, and Many Waters, has enthralled and inspired readers of all ages. This newly designed boxed set features the stunning art of Peter Sís.

Meg has been a nerd most of her life until she learns the secret about her father. She battles it out with some freakish dark forces and ends up falling in love with Calvin O'Keefe. It seems that these books really tell a lesson and can relate to life situations. I liked the series and it's quite interesting what you find out about each character.

I <3 Madeleine L'Engle! A lot. Who else can make science this fun? Especially for a young girl who likes English more than any other science and can't really understand why mitochondria are that important. Her use of language (the Happy Medium? Awesome) and her subtle morals make any of these books worth reading over and over again.

These books are so amazing even as an adult. They are deeply philosophical, yet still full of mystery, science fiction and fun! I think that these books may have stared my early philosophical mind buzzing!!

These books make me sad to know what kids are reading today. Very few "children's books" quote Euripides, Goethe, and include sayings in Portuguese or Welsh. These stories (A Swiftly Tilting Planet, which is my favorite, in particular) are largely responsible for the shaping of my imagination as far as time-travel, space, and the interplay between parts of history is concerned. And I always forget how beautifully anti-war they are. I also love how L'Engle weaves significant matters of faith into each story, and as a kid this definitely helped me understand that you didn't have to exclude God/faith from Fantasy/Sci-Fi. The only real complaint I have is that they all end rather abruptly, A Wrinkle in Time especially.

in 11th grade my life changed. i went vegan, then got really preachy with it, then lost friends, missed my partner (long distance relationship), got depressed, then ignored everyone and read like 10 l'engle books in a row all day long in school and at home. l'engle is great for escaping. plus the themes in her Time series are beautiful and were part of shaping my philosophy and worldview at the time.
