Wow, what a great set of fiction. These contain that sense of wonder and awe at the beauty and mystery of God and His ways. Each book is a world within a world, and sometimes worlds within worlds.

I’m still reflecting on how sudden each book ends and how that’s representative of each characters actual experience from book to book. Each of their journeys end as suddenly as they start, and well, that’s the essence of only a “wrinkle” in time right? Uh, so great. These make me want to go back and do some literary analysis on all the things L’Engle did in each book. That kind of nerdy English student stuff I tasted when I was in college. If a set of books make me want to do that, that’s how I personally know they were exceptional.

After fully reading this series, it is my opinion that Madeline L’Engle belongs right up there with CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien and would’ve easily fit in with the rest of The Inklings. If you’ve only ever read A Wrinkle In Time, I can’t recommend pressing on to read the others in this series as they are now some of my most cherished stories. These are not just kid stories, these are wonderful fun reads for any age.

At least two of these ("A Wrinkle in Time" and "A Swiftly Tilting Planet") are BOTH on my 10-TEN, ALL-TIME FAVORITES list, and I consider "A Swiftly Tilting Planet" one of those rare volumes that touched my soul and left me a better person for having read it.

I do have to admit, however, that we re-read the trilogy with our children, discovered "Many Waters," and did not enjoy it as we had the first three. It is one of only a handful of books I have never finished reading.

Wonderful books for any age that will give your imagination something to grow on. Great books to discuss as well.

I love these books! I love the symbolism in these. The fact that science and religion are all interlocked is profound to me, and not many people see it that way. I read these in middle school and have since read them many times over.

I read "A Wrinkle In Time" as a library clerk in the children's department when it first came out and loved it. Bought this edition for my grandson and monopolized his book when I visited his home a month after sending it to him. Loved every minute. I love Science Fiction and this is excellent for the genre. I am intrigued by the fourth book, Many Waters, and its apocryphal references. Interesting interpretation.

Another classic series I read as a kid. I remember trying to grasp the idea of tesseract from the books "square a square" explanation and the two pictures of an ant and string. I remember looking up mitochondria in the Time Life book of the body and being excited they were real. Three of the many books that made me love reading, and of the handful that left a mark on me.

I know a lot of you have read *A Wrinkle in Time,* but honestly, I got more out of the books that followed. This is a beautiful allegory and a compelling series, for adults and children alike. Meg, this is what I'd recommend for a 12-year-old.

Though I didn’t rate all of the stories in this volume 5 stars, the volume gets them all for its beautiful format and additional materials. The appendix includes several other writings by L’Engle—speeches, essays, and deleted scenes from her first novel. My favorite of those was a speech she gave to the Library of Congress on creativity and “daring to disturb the universe.” As usual with The Library of America editions, a fine chronology of the author is provided; some entries so tantalizing you want to know more.

I’ve reviewed the four novels separately:

One of my ALL time favorite series from childhood. I can distinctly remember the summer I discovered this series & devoured all 4 books as rapidly as I could. It really was my introduction to the sci-fi genre, which to this day is not really my thing, but these books, they made it accesible and interesting and fun to my youthful & spongy mind. Would love to re-read these with my children. They are certainly too young now being only 5 & 3, so perhaps I will have to indulge sooner...

This library of America edition is worth getting solely for the essays, notes, and appendix in the back of the book. Mrs. L’Engle is somebody I look forward to meeting one day. I hope she likes me.

I own the omnibus of this great children's sci-fi adventure of family and friends and much more!!
These books have stretched my vision, mind, and perception of fantasy and the real-world to only have them seamlessly conclude that anything is possible!
