I love Notaro. I have to read her books alone in a quiet room otherwise I get looks when I cackle repeatedly over something she's done like battle with her family, shopping, and holiday parties. If you need a good laugh I highly recommend her.
With less than 150 pages filled with short essays ranging from about 4-15 pages in length, An Idiot Girl’s Christmas is an easy read about Notaro’s Christmas memories, perfect for those times when you only have a few minutes here and there to read. A fast, easy, entertaining read......especially: K-Mart-"Kotex fits. Period (a big Red dot)"....and the punch line of the story, which you will have to read for yourselves.... Definitely Chick-humor!
I only wish my family was as funny....LOL! Well, actually I'm so grateful they are not!
Somewhat of a dissapointment compared to Notaro's wonderfully witty rolling on the floor peeing myself books. It was sprinkled with far too many stories already published in her other books, and although it was fun to re-visit some of them, I was hoping to read something brand new. I did love "Naughty Or Nice."
Again, Laurie Notaro won me over and had me in stiches from beginning to end! I love her books because each chapter is a quick, witty read and very short for people such as myself who like to read just a tiny bit before bed. Also, great to read in one shot - easy, fun and a great laugh!
I love Laurie's books, and this one was very funny. I am marking it down to only 3 stars because several of the stories in it were recycled from her other books. If I hadn't read so many of them already, I would've rated this as 4 stars.
Almost every story was laugh-out-loud hilarious and completely relatable. Notaro reminds me of a female David Sedaris...very similar to his book, Holidays on Ice.
