A masterpiece on investing. Incomparable. Benjamin Graham is the God of investing. Any other comparison will not do justice to the master.

It is no doubt a classic, written so simply and touches on industry analysis which most books on investments miss out. Besides it deals with several aspects of getting to the roots of making a good stock selection.

Classic but most of the materials are same as my lecture materials. Nothing really fascinating.

Clearly super technical book, understanding principal are hard to get in first, I was forced to read around two other finance book before I finished a 1/4 of this book and 100's of times googling to clarify and revisiting thought again and again , but getting through this book gradually in an even pace. At some point, I feel this like learning differential equation of the investment world, and I see my struggle to understand basic calculus of investment, but it fun and this book make you feel stupid everyday. Not finished yet officially but this purely a lifelong book I'll definitely revisit again and again.

This book was written in 1934 just 5 years after the collapse of the stock market in 1929, and right about the time of the Glass-Steagel Act which changed the ethics of the stock market and how they were regulated. Benjamin’s idea was to teach people about the basics of investment by providing insights of what one should look out for in a business that they wish to invest in. Can you get through all these 725 pages? Yes you can, but it will not be an easy read like the Hunger Games.

If you do get through it, you will possess a book written nearly 8 decades ago that has sage insights. You will learn of a framework to follow before rushing into any investment. Also, you will be able to discern a business that looks profitable but in hindsight it is clutching on straws and in the verge of bankruptcy. After reading this book, you will have learned the basic philosophy and principles of investment in the stock market. You will be equally equipped with the tools (mostly analytical and philosophical) that will help you make decisions regarding investments. The difference between investment and speculation, discussion and analysis are all outlined. The reason it is important to know these differences is because the business segment during news time never explain them and so is school. Benjamin will make you understand the meaning of these and other terms his book in a very practical manner.

A classic filled with valuable guide on investing and contain many profound advice from a master.
However many of the dated examples may not have of much value as in today.
I have opted to skip parts on fixed-income securities as it is less applicable for the securities market for Malaysia.
Nevertheless, this have proved to be a tedious read for me considering i'm not well versed on the rather dated language.

The bible of value investing is a must read for all stock market investors. It will redefine you thinking and approach towards valuation, investing and life. The perspectives you get from 1910's to the latest trends in stock markets with commentary from successful fund managers putting things into perspective by applying the principles Graham and Dodd laid down several decades ago is invaluable. This is updated in the 7th edition of the book which is my preferred version. The book is long about 775 pages cover to cover on stock and bond markets will required some time to read and digest. Warren Buffet himself has read the book four times which goes to emphasize it's timeless principles to investing.

Security Analysis is not for the amateur or newbie investor wanna be. That being said, I didn't understand approximately 63% of it but the parts I did understand seem to me to be investing wisdom at its finest. If you are a seasoned investor, you will want to read this book and refine your skills. I'll come back to this one.
