The heroine grew up with a mother who always wanted a good time and that got her killed, so at the age of eleven the heroine went to live with an older rich man Thomas, who also was a mystery writer and Edmund the butler. Now years later she is a teacher, her friend is dead, murdered and now she has a mystery challenge to complete, alongside Thomas's hated step-son, Detective Max. Plus she has always suspected that Thomas was her father. In the journey to solve the clues, the heroine finds out the identity of her father, love, mortal danger.

The prize at the end of the challenge is Thomas's fortune and the identity of the killer. I found the book an engaging read. Max's father was a cop when his mother left he didn't react well, unmindful of his dad's controlling ways and disdain for women, years later he wised up but not without sacrificing his marriage. Max doesn't think he is a prize for any woman but he and the heroine share an attraction that seems so much more than chemistry.

The book features a psychic, a Detective masquerading as a poet (who gets his own book), someone hell bent on killing the heroine, Llamas, and fun! The hero/heroine were great and the book was romantic, funny and mysterious.

#27 Un libro con antónimos en su título.

Quitando el hecho de que la sinopsis te vende un policial que promete esta bueno pero termina siendo un romance esta bueno, ponele.

As previously stated, I have never rolled my eyes so hard or with such frequency while reading a book in my life. Also I put it down for over a month until I forced myself to finish it for the book challenge. Meh. The first half of the book wasn't terrible, just silly though. So if you like the kind of sappy ridiculousness that is amusing in its badness (and possibly knows how ridiculous it is?) then go for it. But if you like good books, I'd probably skip this one. My bad for thinking a modern day mass market romance with a pun in the title was a good thing to actually register on goodreads as a real book.

What a fun book, even though you wouldn't think so from the plot. It is a team scavenger hunt to find the murderer (and treasure) of a mystery author, Thomas. Evie has been his ward since she was 11 and her mom died. Due to her upbringing, she doesn't get close to people (but loves the pet llamas). She is teamed up with Max, who hated Thomas and was programmed not to love by his father. The clues are all passages from Thomas' books and the supporting characters are interesting. Plenty of danger, as someone seems to be trying to kill Evie.

This book was too "romancey", too slow-moving, had too much time spent on emotional reflection, and I didn't believe it.
