Oh boy I’d been wanting to read this book for years. And what a disappointment it was!
First of all it’s pretty outdated (I read it in 2024 and he talks about events from 1999). Second it’s full of bible quotes. Then there are the never ending chapters.
So, yeah, way too long and boring. Too bad cause I love me some PB activism.

DNF at 40%. Skimmed through most.

Arguably one of the best books that I have read to date. Scully eloquently shows up how human beings have really tossed aside animals as beings in their own right in favour of making mass produced animal products at the expense of their well-being, and high monetary profits. I appreciate that Scully is a straight-talker (by calling a spade a spade) when he confronts certain key members in different animal industries about gross animal exploitation in those industries. He is also witty and blatantly honest, the latter quality that I think leaves a gash in the even the most hardened human conscience about how cruelly animals are being treated in laboratories, factory farms and in certain habitats, like the sea. 'Dominion' is a fantastic and shocking read for some, but for those who opt to take up the fight against gross animal exploitation, Scully points out in such a professional and clever manner, where the fights begin and plausible strategies to consider in winning them.

This book is incredibly one sided; just as any speech writer for President Bush would need to be. I believe we should treat the animals we are going to consume for our meals decently; we cannot however treat them humanly as they are animals not humans. I do treat domesticated animals with due respect and love for they are not for dinner.

We are omnivores and hence eat meat and vegetables. We are meant too. A lion doesn't whine over how the deer was treated, but we are considered higher up the thinking chain and I do believe we have a responsibility. I love my vegetables, but I also like knowing what I've eaten once had a soul.
