Wow, I mean this book hooked me from the get go! Part of it was like I felt I was reading something I shouldn’t, and I have 2 kids in my house so I had to hide the photos in the book while I was reading it. But I was so intrigued by the story! I read 50 shades of Grey, but this was way better in my opinion. This is the story of her life. As you might expect, she had a rough one, but I admire her drive, her spunk, and her willingness to be the best. Granted, she had some really horrible things happen along the way. Great read; I could not stop reading it.

How To Make Love Like a Porn Star: By Jenna Jameson I have read over a hundred books that I've rated five stars, this is one of the few I've rated as just one star. Oh my god, did I mess up on this one, but I have a stick-to-aness don't like adding books to my I give-up can not finish list. So I worked at it daily and finally I was able to finished it and I do feel that anything I read I learn a little sometimes it's not the five star reads but the one star bombs that teaches me the most lessons. I learned that I enjoy when a character develops and changes over time due too the way they handled whatever trauma that had overtaken their lives is resolved. That didn't happen in this book. I learned that I tend to trust the word of the author that what they say is true or mostly true especially if it is suppose to be an autobiography, but "For us, these schemes weren’t only about the money; they were also for the adrenaline rush. It was a high to get the upper hand over a customer. They were dumb, they were drunk, and they deserved it. At least that’s what I thought at the time. Strippers can be vicious."
(p. 66). HarperCollins. Kindle Edition.
Probably one of the only fully truthful statements in this book at least it feels that life taught the future Ms. Jameson that men were vicious dumb and to survive she needed to be what she later became and it doesn't appear to me that she managed to change at all, from the time she started out too now late in her forties she is still living as if life is about getting high from having power over men. Try to not be judgemental in this, in fact I do feel that she had lived a rough childhood and had few good options and the adults in her life mostly took advantage and let her down, her Mother died when she was very young and I know that women I have known who had grown up without a mother are in a word a hot-mess, boys don't do well either without a father but with women not having a mother is really hard on a girl. She (Jenna) is I'm certain a very bad narcissist, I got that impression from a number of things she said in the book but mostly I draw the conclusion that a beautiful woman who from a early age is told that by men well it doesn't turn out well most families have some experience with narcissists and a woman narcissist can be a very ugly experience to be around. I have no doubt that her reputation as being someone who has anger issues, drug issues, difficult to work with and other social problems is a well-deserved reputation. Overall this was just a book too hype an already over-hyped ego. If you want to know about this person a google search (wish I would have just done that) will turn up all you need to know since it's not in her book I'll finish her bio with she finally was able to have a family with husband number three she had twin boys who were taken by the court from her due too her out of control behavior and drug use. She now has full length sleeve tattoos on both arms and is still trying to keep a career as a model (now tattoo model) she did make tons of money but as she said in her book On tour, I stayed in the most expensive hotels, rented Ferrari's in every city, and racked up over $40,000 on my credit cards. But for the first time, making money didn’t cheer me up. It might be me but that is not what I call making money. In the end I would describe Jenna Jameson as a trickster a coyote character Do opposite of what I do and you will be fine, a sex-drugs-rock-and-roll biker tattoo girl who was just fine with being the object of men's desire so long as the money and the drugs were there then I must be winning. No dear sorry but your actually a very sad person I'm sorry I had spent so much of my time learning about your self-obsessions, coyote is also a power character but sad all the same. One star hope this is my one bad book for the year.

Check the trigger warnings and content warnings before diving into this one.

A very humanizing portrayal of her journey from childhood to becoming the self-proclaimed "Queen of Porn" and beyond, the book manages to be honest without being puritanical or glitzy - which is quite a feat.

Between the nature of content, use of language, engaging story, and overall structure of the book it is very much unlike anything I have ever read. My only points of criticism extend from where a lack of education feeds into Jenna's view on specific intense topics like suicide (yikes) and the nature of the different sexes. Given how nonjudgmental the rest of the book feels, those few points where the 2004 shows are pretty jarring. Jenna is now just under 50 and a mother of 3, and I can't help but wonder how her point of view has grown over the years.

Props to Neil Strauss's writing expertise and Jenna Jameson's courage, as both are on full display here. Originally published in 2004 (20 years ago omg), it feels simultaneously ahead of its time and nostalgic.
