In the sixth main entry of author Kathryn Lasky’s Guardians of Ga’Hoole saga, the owl quartet of Soren, Digger, Twilight, and Eglantine are to become Guardians at last, and proceed to the Firth of Fangs in the most northwestern region of the Everwinter Sea to find an old warrior named Moss. Polar bears inhabit the Firth, with Soren and company coming across a friendly one. Meanwhile, the elderly warrior Ifghar ails, and pirates kidnap one of the main characters, with battles and deaths towards the end. Overall, the sixth main Ga’Hoole story is enjoyable, although there were occasional details that slipped this reviewer’s experience with the narrative.

This one had a few more retcons, actually
For the record I do really enjoy these books!! I love this series a Lot
The way I enjoy series like this, however, is by reading it and then talking about all the inconsistencies and retcons and things lol

Anyway I'm very excited for the next few books as I like Nyroc a lot but if I remember correctly there might be a brief flashback detour for a few books so we'll see how long I'll have to wait for him to show up

The Burning by Kathryn Lasky is a thrilling read, filled with suspense and action. In this book, the pace is just right, leaning a bit toward the fast side, which is always better than too slow. Kludd, the leader of the Pure Ones, finally falls. Many owls think it's a death from his brother, Soren's claw, but it was actually from Twilight's. And then something amazing happens as the sun, moon, and earth line up. A hatchling by the name of Nyroc is born into the hollow that Nyra roosted in. Nyra, Kludd's evil mate. The hatchling is destined for a rule that is so evil and so pure, like Kludd's rule. But the question is... Will Nyroc be good or evil?

This feels like a such a great conclusion to the Kludd arc, honestly. Ever since this mission was teased at the end of the previous book, I knew this was going to be one heck of a story. Not only did they explore the northern kingdoms, learn new means of combat and provide more backstory about Elzyrib, but it all concluded in a great fight that was probably the most brutal so far. While some of the books can be considered "slow" or "lack action", it all pays off when you get to books like this.

I was so glad when the Parliment agreed with Otulissa that the Guardians should strike the Pure Ones first rather than wait for them to strike . Especially after the fall and takeover of St. Aggies by the before mentioned Pure Ones; giving these evil owls control of the largest collection of "flecks" known to owlkind.
In order to thwart the plans of the Pure Ones; the "Chaw of Chaws" is sent on a mission to the Northern Kingdoms. This book is so much better than the others. It seems that the books get better and more involved as they go. This book deals with the issues of self-confidence and friendship in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.
This book brings Gilfie and Otulissa to the forefront.
This is the book that changes EVERYTHING!

We finally arrive at the battle of the pure ones. The fight doesn't last long, but in the end Kludd is finally dead. Sorens mom and dad's scrooms have also passed on. Everything seems to have been wrapped up, but there is more to come with the birth of Kludds son Nyroc.
