Objectively, reading the book felt like being on a receiving end of a dated lecture by some random old British dude. HOWEVER, by the time I was done, I was (for the first time in my life) strangely OK with the idea of never drinking alcohol again. Some kind of Jedi mind-trick? I am giving the book five stars because it delivers. Somehow.

Very motivating. Yet I couldn't grasp the actual Easyway steps which are described in the book? Or do I have to attend to Allen Carr's Easyway centers in order to learn that?

Nonetheless, this book is a great starting point for those wishing to achieve alcohol free lives.

Just What I Needed

I came across the book while watching a YouTube video. I was apprehensive when I ordered it but glad I did. Its simplicity made it easy to read yet it got to the root of drinking. It reminds the reader that we are in more control than we give ourselves credit for. I highly recommend this book.

A friend mentioned using a different version of this book to quit smoking, so I was curious to check it out during my annual dry month (which has been a little damp this year due to travel). I can see how the approach would work for smokers, but I actually LOL’d at the attempt to pivot the format to alcohol. Maybe it was the illustrations? Best of luck to anyone looking to cut back, though.

I haven’t drank in over two and a half. Didn’t have a major negative event but just came across it on amazon one day. I’ve never done AA, or anything like it besides reading this book. It is an objective look at alcohol that has stuck with me. Worth a read to anyone on the fence, or that has woken up hungover a few too many times. I’ve never regretted not drinking.

Hmm just not sure I agree with the Easyway method. I’ve been sober for 4.5 months and maybe this would have been helpful at the beginning, but I’m not sure. It was pretty repetitive and I’ve read plenty of other sober lit that was much more helpful for me.

Keep an open mind when you start reading this book.
Also fallow the proposal on how to read it.
By the end of this book I did not feel miserable because I no longer want to drink anymore, instead I felt free. I can only see alcohol as a poison now. I am saving money now, my weekends are longer, my Mondays mornings are happier. I was not using alcohol, it was the other way around!
Forget All the books and meetings groups, just read this book and You'll be changed for ever!

The Best book ever to finally give up drinking for good

I really love this book. Carr is not a proponent of moderate drinking. It doesn’t work. I have read several books that suggest stopping for a specific number if days, or limit it to —- fill in the blank but Carr doesn’t mess around— he gets directly to the point with so much information on what we fall into the alcohol trap and how to get out of it for good. I plan on re reading this book several times because it is that good! Thank you.

Well, we will see, I suppose.

Years ago, I read the Easy Way to Stop Smoking and, magically, it worked. Immediately and absolutely. Haven't had a cigarette since.

So I figured... Why not?

It took me a lot longer to read this one as I didn't really want to finish it - guess I thought on some level that it was working.

The problem is, I just didn't find it as convincing as the smoking book. Maybe that problem is me as, apparently, I am a very different drinker than Mr. Carr was.

Still, there were definitely things that made me think about alcohol and alcoholism in a very different light.

Giving it three stars for now. Will reevaluate in a few months.

Easy way is the only way

Reading the book has helped me to make the decision to stop drinking. Drinking was ruining my marriage and my life.
