A childhood classic for me. You have to award points to the croc for effort...he’s not one to give up easily! This wasn’t ever a book I would pick up to read on my own when I was little, but it was a definite favourite for a bedtime story with my sister and my folks. And I would argue that the images are so accessible and visually rich that this book could be read visually - wonderful for re-telling your own version of events! One of the first Dahl and Blake combinations I was introduced to, and a beautiful example of a family read!

Great for all ages, including some rhyming words.

I will never forget the picture of the crocodile dressing up as a palm tree. It had me laughing for hours!

My year of Roald Dahl is still going!

The Enormous Crocodile loves to eat plump, juicy little child, and he wants to eat as many as he can. But when the other animals in the jungle join together to put an end to this, the Enormous Crocodile learns a lesson he won't soon forget.

One of my childhood favourites that I was desperate to revisit.

It's a simple fun story of an Enormous Crocodile on the hunt for some children to eat, he believes each clever trick will prevail only to be foiled by various animals from the jungle.

One of the best aspects of this picture book is the wonderful illustrations by Quentin Blake.
Both Blake and Dahl fit so seamlessly together.

Whilst the story also features the Roly-Polly Bird and Muggle-Wump, who would later feature in The Twits adds to the enjoyment.

The Story starts In the biggest brownest muddiest river in Africa. There lived two crocodiles one was enormous and the other one was not so big. The Enormous Crocodile had decided to eat a child but the not so big one opposed that because he only liked fish, he warned him for that and said that surely he would be sizzled up like a sausage,...but the greedy one grinned and went on land with its terrible sharp teeth that sparkled like a knife in sun, On the riverbank land he met many forest animals while he seeks for a delicious, juicy, chewy and yum child. He met Humpy - Rumpy, Trunky, Muggle - Wamp, and a Roly - Poly bird. He shared that he had some secret plans and clever tricks to eat his supper that was so delicious for him - a child. Everyone opposed this to him when they met, he had some fool clever tricks that were dismissed afterward he was a bit more hungry he decided to eat 3 children and bit more decided 6, but at last when his plans were failed, during his last clever trick that was the picnic squish, crunch, and gallop. The trunky elephant came rushing from the jungle, wrapped his trunk around the crocodile's tail, and began to swing him slowly then faster and faster and then he threw the crocodile was going like a big rocket, at last, he crashed into the sun and sizzled up like sausage ... greedy brute got his lesson and the children were safe although none of his clever tricks and plans worked.

The reason I liked this story was the pictures that were made by Quentin Blake and also the imagination of the author behind it was not only a barbequed lesson for crocodile but also for other greedy kids who tease each other take there items...
It is good fun for kids.

Okay. So tell me what was Roald Dahl thinking when he wrote this book for children? When he wrote about two crocodiles planning to eat little children?!

Ok, we all know crocodiles eat human in real but the kids I would recommend books to do not need this.

The artstyle is refreshing and the writing is good. But reading about little children being wanted to be gobbled up is not it for me. Yes, so I say let's stay away from this book.

The Enormous Crocodile is really interesting. A big thanks to the authors. The key learning from this book is those who think about bad for others they will automatically be punished by nature in any means. The character which I loved is 'Trunky the Elephant'. He thrown out the greedy character of this story Enormous Crocodile miles away in the sky. These types of stories building up confidence in me for English reading and helping out me to increase the interest in book reading.

Thanks to the authors once again and also to Wlaret for giving me this opportunity to enhance book reading skills.
