This one was longer than I had initially thought, but very much worth the read. The amount discussed in the book was extensive, and at times felt long-winded, but there were a few portions that were just gold and made the book very much worth spending the time on. Willard’s reflections on the Sermon on the Mount were spectacular, and the section on the spiritual disciplines was equally helpful. I’m sure I’ll be returning to those sections throughout my life.

Dallas Willard seems like one of those guys everybody should read. I get a little nervous when people get too enamored with him, but I guess that’s true with every author.

I don't pretend to have internalized even 30%. This book is THICK in complexity.

Dallas Willard -a more modern C.S. Lewis - wrote a heavy piece of theology about the life in Christ.

This gentleman here even does too good a job in word economy, meaning that every term is carefully selected and every meaning contributes in building the presented perspective.
In short, if you miss any word while reading, you will have a difficult time following the train of thoughts.

All in all, I praise this as a great and very much needed manual on Christian living.

Absolutely one of my top favorite books (I knew this when I was only a few chapters in). So insightful, thoughtful, and practical in how to pursue Jesus and the Kingdom of God. 15/10 would recommend!

Read this one with our church small group and it was a heck of a book both in terms of content and style. Each chapter was convicting and had me questioning why I don’t choose to live how Jesus called us to if I claim to believe that what he says is true and best. Would definitely recommend the content, was just more on the academic side and hard to read and understand at times. Glad we went through it as a group and had some really fruitful discussions.
