I picked this book to see if I would enjoy reading books by the different authors. I was not completely convinced after reading the first novella but I kept going. I ended up not reading the last novella. Not my style, but very well written.

Read all three novels but picked this up mostly for Jaid Blacks novel. The other two novels get 3 stars from me and Jaids gets 4 stars.
Fun steamy times

I bought this book because it has the beginning of Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series as one of the three stories. The first story in the book, by Sherrilyn Kenyon, is a good basic romance, with no immortals involved. The second story, by Jaid Black, is a story of a race of Vikings who live beneath the earth, with bride-hunters who go above ground to steal eligible women to bring below and marry the Vikings and provide them with children. This one was interesting, with the Vikings seeming to have some immortality to them. I may read more of Jaid Black's work later on. The third story involves vampires and Valkyrie and how one of each came together after nearly destroying one another. This one left me wanting more and I continue on to A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole.

Romance Anthol.

"Turn Up The Heat" (non-PNR) - Sherrilyn Kenyon

One more fun, exciting adventure featuring the men & women of B.A.D. (Bureau of American Defense (think off-the-books CIA-like).

I LOVE her BAD series - many are stories in anthol's. - and wish she'd write another full-length BAD book.

"Hunter's Oath" (PNR) - Jaid Black

Cool, I stumbled over a 2nd JB anthol. story featuring the hidden underground world of the Vikings! Must check out this author.

"The Warlord Wants Forever" (PNR) - Kresley Cole

First time I've read this very popular author. This story was good, I wasn't crazy about the Valkyrie sisters thing, but the romance was GREAT!

An excerpt for "A Hunger Like No Other", #1 Immortals After Dark knocked my socks off!!!! OMG, I went running to her site and have a copy coming from Books Free! Yowsa!

These are three of my favorite authors, and I really enjoyed all three stories. This book includes “Turn up the Heat: B.A.D. #5″ by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It feels like this was one of Sherrilyn’s earlier writings, not quite as high a level of writing skills as her other works, however I enjoyed the story of a man hiding out from the mafia and a women who wins a free fantasy vacation. Jaid Black’s story “Hunter’s Oath: Vikings Underground #3 was a series I read and loved on from a long time ago and then forgot the name of the book or author and never came across the series again when I was reading other books by Jaid Black. I was very glad to find this series again. The last story in this compilation is “The Warlord Wants Forever: Immortals After Dark #1″ by Kresley Cole. I have read every single book in this series except for this one, and didn’t even know it existed before I found this book at my local used book store. Believe me when I say I did a little jig when I realized the gem I had found. I love her work and wait very impatiently for each new release.

Couldn't help myself to re-read IAD. I love the series and I am missing these amazing characters so much. I hope KC goes back to writing these wonderful books again.

The second story, Hunter's Oath by Jaid Black was okay, but both the characters and the plot were underdeveloped. I know its a short story, but come on!! Build a little! The Sherrilyn Kenyon story, Turn up the Heat, sucked quite frankly. I think that I really just don't like her writing style. It's stilted and juvenile. The Kresley Cole story, The Warlord Wants Forever, is by far the class of the book. Its the begining of her Immortals After Dark series, which is one of my favorites of the paranormal romance genre. Cole's writing is fast paced and exciting, the characters are believable and well developed, and the plots are excellent.

This review is only for The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole. I thought I'd enjoy the other two stories but with my limited book time, I really want to read books that suck me into them withing the first ten or so pages.

I trully enjoyed this story. There was so much action and I adored Nikolai for his patience and his love for his bride. Now, as far as the bride goes, she was really crazy. There were moments in her POV where I thought that she's literally crazy, since the decisions and choices she made made no sense to me at all. Hence the crazy bride... If you're looking for a lot of heartfelt moments then this is not the book for you. But if you're looking for a fun action packed time with lots crazy lovers scenes, then this is a must read. And if you've read some of the Immortals after dark books, then you'll enjoy and understand the plot and setting even more. All I can say, Kresley did a good job with this one.

I only read the Kresley Cole story.

Baby said so I did.

I'm giving it 3 Stars. Great world building and I like Cole's writing style but it didn't dazzle me.

Evidently, the lure of the IAD are the immortal dudes. I do like a big un and Wroth is big... everywhere.

I'm not mad about this, but otherwise he was kind of white bread.

I was thoroughly enjoying Myst initially especially when she blooded him then left him hanging. Literally.

FOR 5 YEARS!!!!!

"I need to fuck you so bad I'm sick with it.

I bet he is. Poor guy.

*tries to hide grin*
/fails

But then she kinda fizzled when she got a taste of Wroth's monster D. I mean, I get it, but... it lost its luster a little.

However, I did enjoy it enough to continue on with the series.

So, Baby, chip chop! The Siren is calling your name.

Reread the warlord wants forever before moving on to A hunger like no other by kresley cole.

Its the story of most who's kind, the valkyrie fight against vampires. But in the course of her life must manacles to get herself tangled up with one. And it follows the clash of characters and their paths from this meeting, and of course the relationship that forms.

I always read this as the 1st in the immortals after dark series as it sets the world up so well, it explains in broad terms what the lore is, the valkyries origins and introduced many of the characters that are important in future books.

Because it is only a novella some of the climactic scenes (not the sex ones) feel a bit rushed and some things are not as deeply explained as they would be in a full novel but I'm okay with that. The fact that it is a quick read but yet the story is complete is very appealing to me as I can read this on days when I need a IAD fix but don't have the time to sit down to the full books.

I love the way this is urban fantasy but it has the feel of high fantasy as there not much reference to the modern world. And of course its an erotic romance so there's a good few steamy scenes even though its a novella.

Not the best book in the series but definitely somewhere to start if you just want a quick taste of the world to see if its for you.

8.75/10

Yee-ha! Off on another series adventure. I only read Kresley Coles' "The warlord wants forever" cos I wanted to start her series. Loved it. Took me a little time to get into the 'other world' as I am not used to reading fantastical fiction. But once in I was hooked. Can't wait to get to the official first in the series "A hunger like no other."

I thought the romance between Nikolae and Myst was yummy. Just the right mix of friction and romance. The sex was hot (about my limit - but oh so good). I usually don't like reading short stories or anthologies cos they leave me wanting as far as plot and character development go, but that is just not the case in this book. It was great. The writing flowed well which meant that I didn't have to skip back and forward to figure out what was what (often the case lately with this new genre for me).

Highly recommended and I am so please I read this first so I have a 'base' for the series.
