the wording of this is a bit odd, in my opinion. overall, it has a good message! i would recommend maybe listening to a summary of the book to anyone interested, so you get the main points without all the fluff (it’s about gaining personal freedom to anyone interested)

4.5 - gifted to me by sweet JD back in 2022.

“if you have done your best and your inner Judge tries to just you according to to your Book of Laws, you’ve got the answer: ‘i did my best.’ there are no regrets. that is why you always do your best.”

“but it is not what i am saying that is hurting you; it is that you have wounds that i touch by what i have said.”

I honestly bought the summary version by accident, but I can't say enough good things about it. I've read it all the way through 4-5 times now and plan to read it many many more times. Timeless wisdom for a life well lived, everyone should read this atleast once, maybe thrice.

very simple to the point of being repetitive. all of the agreements are things i have figured out on my own but i appreciated hearing someone else’s perspective on how important they are. ALSO loved the smoke in mirrors and star analogy’s

This short little book has some good practical insights. I especially like the idea of watch what you say and try your best in anything you do. However, some of its philosophy is definitely not Christian. For example, the author says, "Religion talks about sin and sinners, but let's understand what it really means to sin. A sin is anything you do which goes against yourself." (pgs. 18-19) It's a little confusing then when the author says, "Personal importance, or taking things personally, is the maximum expression of selfishness because we make the assumption that everything is about 'me'". (pg. 31) So the author thinks it's selfish to make everything about yourself and yet he thinks that a sin is something which goes against yourself. What about how sin goes against God and others? A little contradictory to my way of thinking.

I didn't mesh well with this book. I am not sure if it is because the timing wasn't right for me, or what. I felt like I would get lost in what he was saying, and only understood parts here and there.
