I read this when I was younger well a few chapters of it. I ended up getting scared I threw it across the room vowing to never read it again a vow I have kept. Then I started having nightmares about turning into a bee and being one of the only horror books to scare me so bad it earns the five stars. Though now at my age I doubt it will be as good or frightening but why ruin it?

Wooooow! The Homing was absolutely terrifying. Definitely don’t read this if you’re afraid of creepy crawlers. Loved the revenge plot of the story. Julie and her… transition was sad but also extremely intriguing. Loved the open end

John Saul had me instantly hooked from the first line of this book. Horror mixed with supernatural tendencies! I instantly became a fan of Saul's writing and rushed to grab more of his novels from my local bookstore!

Karen finds herself a widow, and now she has found love in a town she thought she left far behind her, finally at last she is marrying her high school sweetheart. Along with this newfound love, she finds herself moving back to town leaving L.A. behind her. Along with the move she brings her two children with her - everything seems beautifully perfect, despite her eldest daughter Julie and her broken heart of leaving "home" behind them. Living on a farm brings lots of joy, smiles, laughter, and sometimes things not so pleasant often deadly. When children start having unexplained reactions and start randomly disappearing from their homes, the family is left with trying to determine exactly what is happening to their children. Something supernatural and sinister is occurring in this little town but what could it be?

5/5 Stars: Not a huge fan of supernatural fiction or anything that goes along with it, however John Saul made me a fan. I was committed to this book from the first sentence, there were times the book moved a little slow in my opinion but it didn't bother me any because Saul was painting the perfect image of what was happening in my head. Would highly recommend, if you are looking for a spooky read and something to leave you guessing, "The Homing" is the perfect Fall read for you!

This was a good book to take on vacation. I have to admit, I laughed out loud at the ludicrousness of the plot. And yet I kept turning the pages. It isn’t for those who are squeamish about bugs! As always, John Saul has victimized good people.

This was a slog to get through. None of the themes are deployed well. Super weak.

I really liked this book. Very original story and well executed. Better than some of Stephen king's work I have to be honest..

I’m gonna be honest this book is boring and the author uses too many exclamation points. DNF

John Saul does not know how to write. This book reads like a dim-witted middle schooler's first attempt at creative writing. Do not read this fucking book.

Another great find by a new-to-me author. Just creepy the whole way through. I couldn't put it down without knowing how it ended!

This was the first Saul book that I read and I thought that it was pretty creepy. The main thing that stuck with me after all these years was the girl unable to vaccumm so she swept the entire room as the bugs in her head couldn't handle the noise. (Note to others: This excuse doesn't go far with your mom in real life and actually gets your fussed at and told to stay out of your brother's books.)
Other than that "scene", there is not much that I recall about the novel except that I like it quite a bit and have since enjoyed several other Saul books.

Always a pleaser. Loved John Saul as a young girl and still do! He still can terrify me with a story.

It started off good, but then this story got very weird, unreal events. I finished it but was not impressed. Surprised by the deaths in this story.
