This is a sweet story about George Washington and his love of dogs. It's not a book about history, but a nice story with some history thrown in. It's a great starter book for beginning readers.

This was a very good History book telling about a fun story that we don't learn in school. Even in the back it has a page of talking about trueness of the story. That the event really did take place.

Talks about the war where George Washington served and after a battle they found a dog. He wanted to keep him but found out he actually belong to the enemy general. George stoped the war and returned the dog. Very nicely written history book.

This book talks about the other side of George Washington that people may not have known, he loved animals. He loved horses and was the best rider in town. He mostly had dogs though who were allowed to run all through the house. His dog even followed him to war and help protect him. George was so kind he even returned the enemies dog to him and became president of the U.S.A. shortly after.

The stories in the "Step Into Reading" series aren't usually noteworthy, but this book has an interesting story, and subtley teaches kids about the American revolution in the process.

A great read-aloud for students to recognize President's Day! This is a fun story about General Washington's love for pets and his connection with one enemy general. This story is different and fun for discussion.
